Does anyone want to make some cash?

I sold my bike to a guy that lives in Florida and he is willing to pay someone to trailer the bike down or even meet him half way. So, if anyone has the time and wants to make a few bucks let me know your price. And just for a reference, a shipping company wants $599 to ship.

I don't want any money out of the deal so it's your call. Just let me know.

thats not bad, considering
1300 miles at 15mpg (trucks get less) is 87 gallons @2.20 gallon is 192.00 x2 = 384.00
its a 4 day trip, unless you do a marathon run so figure in 70x2 for a hotel room thats $140.00
throw in a bit for wear and tear on a car say 30 bucks on top, food another 50-60 bucks
thats about 600.00

and then theres the no gaurantee clause for the safe arrival.

Id ship it via the freight company at least thats insured.

truck company is much cheaper!!!!!!!

yeah, either way it doesn't matter to me. I'm not paying for it. I just figured I'd post because maybe someone just happend to be heading down there. We might have some truck drivers on the board that could be making the trip and have room. Just thought I'd ask.

He left me a message this morning asking if I could find out a shipping price or he was going to try and head up this way. So, he might be pretty flexable. Are you going down soon?

I am going to Barber the first weekend in May. I might be able to meet him halfway or hand it off to my friend who lives in Florida who is coming to the trackday. This is a personal friend not just some guy I met at a trackday.

Cost of operating a vechile is $0.20-$0.40/mile (depending on what you drive) if you factor in all vairable expenses for incrimental mileage includeing the big killer... depreciation. It will cost you at least $500 for a round trip ot Florida. Although, yes food and gass by itself is much less.

$600 for shipping is a pretty good deal...I'd stick with the company, otherwise you're taking advantage of a friend.

Although if it's a personal friend that's different.

Well, I'll talk with him later on today and see if he can wait a little. If not no biggy. I don't have all the details yet on where exactly he's at in Florida. I will be talking with him today on this. Thanks

Cherrypicker, how is it taking advantage of someone if they are going there anyway and they are getting paid? I don't want someone to go out of their way.

Sorry didn;t read the "going there anyway" part. But just paying someone $600 to make the trip that wasn't already going... is too little.

Since IL to FL is in the main zone, http://www.idtransport.com/ will do it for $450 ... I had a bike shipped from NC to my door with IDtransport. Their rig is sturdy and they did a great job with my bike.

$600 seems pretty expensive, I had a bike shipped from FL to IL and it costed $382 with a company called Continental transport I believe.

Shipping, here's why it's cheaper: entire semi load being charged $400/bike x 10bikes = $4,000.....hell, if I owned a semi, I'd do it for that kinda change!

$600 for a one way, one bike trip to FL is NOT enough....no matter who it's for.

I'd do it, because I've got the time......but for only $600, the bike would just make it to Loiusville,Kentucky not FL.

You'd best have it shipped, ckeck out Forward Air, I do believe they'll crate them for you.
