BTW, I ment to post up about a road on the big island. It's called Saddle road and it runs over the top of the island between the 2 big volcanos from Hilo to the Monu Lani area for about 60 miles. Someone told me to check it out. It's like a roller coaster. Grace literally when whee through some of the turns, then grabbed the dash on others and did the passenger braking thing on a select few. On the Hilo side it's really twisty with lots of elevational changes. Lots of quick blind turns. Fresh blacktop. As you come down from the volcanos, you go through a military reserve that is a little smoother with lots of high speed sweepers. I was humping a POS rental car through there at night in the rain and thick fog with the wife and child. I was lucky to be averaging 45 on the Hilo side and 65 when it smoothed out. It has to be one of the best 60 mile streatches of road out there. I saw maybe 5 cars the whole time I was on it. I want to ride that when I can see WTF I was doing. Grace was just laughing at me being stuck in rental. It would be worth moving there just for that road. Gaaaa! I hate riding in IL. Oh, when I told the guy who recommended the road I ran it a night in the fog and rain, he thought I was wacko. Great F-ing road! Check it out if you get out there. Oh if you do a HD rental, don't tell them that you know about that road. I hear they won't rent or insure you.

Funny thing, I saw only 1 sportbike the whole time I was on the island. I just don't get it. Time to open a Honda dealership?

Did I say it is a Great F-ing road?

Sounds like a wicked road, too bad the bridge to HI doesn't exit.

Reprobate!

That's such a cool word! I haven't heard that one for years.

Jim, I just wish I was back there.

Anna, WI has nothing on this! It's probably better than the Dragon. Just think, grab some breakfast in the Manu Lani area. Get warmed up and start with the fast easier sections ending with the techincal hard stuff. Have lunch in Hilo. Turn around all charged up to hit the tough stuff and end with the easier fast fun bits. Damn, I really want to go back and ride it.

Bill, reprobate seems to work around here, doesn't it...

IMO the state of Colorado and Utah are better than the dragon

Shit at least youve been there. I have never been there, and considering what it costs I will most likly never be there.

What I don't get is why the place isn't swamped with sportbikes? Add to that that the only cops I saw on the road the whole time I was there was in the city of Hilo.

I hear license plate fee's and cost of living is outrageous there, so that might have something to do with it since a bike is more of a toy than a nessecity.
