RIP My Dog DandyLion

I have had Dandy since I was in first grade, but yesterday we had to put her down. On Monday she lost the use of her hind legs, and started having a hard time swallowing. She wouldnt take water, and threw up everything she had eaten that morning. The vet gave us a shot that he said would help her alot, and it worked for a couple hours. She even got up once and drank alot of water, but by night she was doing worse. She made it through the night, but the next morning was really bad. The vet put her down at 9:15 yesterday morning, and it was horrible. She reacted pretty violently to the drugs, and it took all of us to hold her down. I really wish she could have gone more peacefully, she had a long life and deserved the best. We buried her out on our ranch yesterday in a beautiful spot overlooking the pond, and shaded by a huge oak tree.

The worst part is that I keep looking for her around the house. I made a sandwich for lunch, and all the dogs came to beg. Out of habit I tore up five pieces of cheese, but we only have four dogs now. She has been a part of my life for 14 years, and it already doesnt feel right without her roaming around the house, and "playing lion" on the front entrance.

I just needed to vent a little bit, because I really havent talked about it much to anyone. I know that alot of you have gone through the same thing, and can understand. Thanks for listening.

i am sorry to hear that, RIP, as she is in no pain now, and the life you gave her i am sure was great!

i dont know what i would do without my boy, since i have no kids i feel like he is my son, and i almost treat him as such, and give him anything and at times go over board with him playing and falling alseep with him next to me.

its weird how these little guys feel like the family they become.

i can only imagine. but feel happy that she lead a good life and you loved her so much, and i know she knew that, and is in doggie heaven running around thinking of you too.
