Tattoo ideas

I was thinking of getting one. I was wondering where is a good cheap place and some ideas, but I want one with meaning. One was the tattoo below but changing the colors a little. The Mickey would be cool because my wife and I went to Disney for our honeymoon, the guitar because I play it. I would have the colors: pants to blue, the guitar red and the jacket to white. I was also thinking to get my daughter name in there somehow. I think this would be 5-6 inches.
Any Ideas on where, how much, and other tattoo's?

You can get pretty reasonable rates out there. Don't go TOO cheap or you'll just end up covering it up later on. I tried to take some pics of the tattoo I got in Milwaukee. It is about 5-6 inches high, 3 inches wide, lots of lines and colors for $200. Granted, that was a Monday afternoon (took a half day from work). If it was a Saturday, the guy probably would have lined on one day, did color the next. If you go local to you, try and go there at least once to chat with an artist. And if the place doesn't give you a hospital vibe, get out and go someplace else. If my tattoo pic turns out I'll post it.

Tattoos are such a personal statement that you probably won't get too much meaningful advice from this crew on WHAT to get. The artist might have some ideas on how to incorporate your daughter's name into the design.

Well ideas added to what I had in the picture. I wanted more ideas on where to go to get it and how much it might cost.

+1 on that.

Tatoo Factory in Chicago is reasonable. That's where Shane got his 1st and my 4th tattoo at; ask for Filthy Phil, he does great work.

If you happen to be in New Orleans, Electric Ladyland on Frenchman street is really reasonable . Sorry couldn't resist. They did a really good job on my latest one and they were cheap.

Rob at Skin Gallery in Downers Grove is great, not the cheapest but does very good work. Another good guy is Lee at Quad City West in South Elgin. How to incorporate the name and change the tat is a question for the artist.

I got one at Tattoo Factory as well. Maybe it was because it was a Saturday, but I got double the tattoo for about the same price in Milwaukee.

I'm not into the tribal thing because, well I'm not in a tribe. That's just me, I don't want to offend anyone on here if you have one, cool I'm also afraid that I'll get some Chinese letter and with my luck it won't stand for what I want it too and in reality it will stand for "man with small penis" I don't speak the language so I'll never know and I'm not taking some guys word.

The best advise you have gotten so far is the most true. Go talk to several artists and see how the shop and they are. You will know right away if you want that person tattooing you or not. If you find an artist that you click with, on ideas, thats your artist.

Tattoo Factory is on the far north side of Chicago. Want to say on Broadway. I think the website is http://www.tattoofactory.com , but not sure. The other place was gothic body tattoo and piercing (I think), it's on Brady and Farwell in Milwaukee, just south of the Exclusive Company.

I'm kinda all over the country with tattoo artists, but I agree, you need to go and talk to the artist, let them know what you are looking for. Also ask to see some work by the artist that will be doing your tattoo, look around the shop and see the autoclave machines and gloves and other items that would make it a safe sterile place to get a tattoo. I also agree that the cheapest is not the best way to go, but i understand that you are looking for the best deal so look around before you decide on one person.

Do research......when I got mine I got the "le coeur sacre" or in english the sacred heart.....it means to have faith. Tribal/Spiritual ones speak to you...it's a zen thing.....like when my bike speaks to me.....tells me if things are good or not

i did mine both in urbana. great guys, great service, and they still remember me all these years later. touch ups are virtually free. plus, it used to be a dental office, so the place is SUPER clean. Vision World Tattoo, and I think it's on University. It was like 7 yrs ago, but the same cool guys are still there.

oh, and neither of mine have ANY black. i thought it was too high of a contrast and too sharp for my taste. one uses brown, and the other is just red and blue.

i got mine done here by Miles. I would recoment finding the artist that you want instead of the shop. I found some of Miles' work online and went in to talk to him about it. I notice that if you have them come up with something original they'll care more about it and therefore do a better job.

My name is JB, people call me JB
