Directtv or dish network is the best around right now. I am partial to directv especially since they are in the process of launching new satelites to bring even more HD content.

Has the price come down on the HDTIVO yet? Does DTV have plans for their own HD DVR? That's what Im waiting for.

directv is playing catchup. I believe dish has more birds up in the air right now, more orbital slots and have been strategically buying up the smaller satellite offerings faster and better than directv.

the only thing directv has going for it is they've been around slightly longer and a larger subscriber base but that's been dwindling for years now. overall better value and tech is in the dishnetwork bucket

Kinda had a feeling that was gonna happen......Just not a BIG market YET!

I see DVR's have come down drastically and with 100 gig + harddrives you can use them just like TIVO only free! although you can only record and watch the same station so in a way they are slowly evolving.

Comcast occasionally pisses me off, but I'm pretty happy overall. They provide a DVR with HD as well as "on demand" (something I can no longer live without).

Can you elaborate on that Henderson? You mean I can't get basic analog cable alongside my HS internet after August?

No, that means we will be broadcasting all our programming in at minimum digital.
As of right now we have a few channels that are still broadcast using an analog signal. These are the channels that HD customers love to complain about because they look like $hit on an HD tv. So don't loose any sleep!

Hmmmm....

Right now I pay something like $55 a month for high speed interent and basic cable. I only have the basic cable becasue without it, high speed is ~$60 a month.

I don't really care about Comcast cable TV because I have DTV, but a few my sets have both DTV and Comcast analog.

WHen August rolls around will I need to get a cable box? I can't believe they would force thousands of non-digital folks to either upgrade or cancel serrvice.

I notice the travel channel looks like crap on my Comcast + HDTV setup, but most of the channels I actually watch look good. The HD channels look really good!

I am also now addicted to DVR and OnDemand. I couldn't believe how many free movies they are offering through OnDemand. Just watched "Seems Like Old Times" on Wednesday.

Honestly I'm really hoping to see comcasts pictures quality and HD channel line up improve. I would love to be able to get everything from one provider.

Cable tv
internet
voip
and tivo all on one SMALL bill.

I'm sick of having satelite for one tv, comcast for the other and nternet, an antenna for my HD locals, and SBC for my phone. thats really getting annoying and expensive.

Careful about the VOIP. Our nieghbor has that and the other day EVERYTHING went out cable wise, internet, TV and VOIP. Oh he was screaming out the door that "this is against federal law and they have to keep teh utilities separate from cable, blah blah blah". He wanted to use OUR phone to bitch them out right after we just called in. HE has a cell phone, he can use that.
