Power, stability, and parts availbility due to popularity.

One things for sure.. the R1 exhaust looks way better. That Zuk can is hideous.

Never rode either, so I have nothing useful to say.

They are both excellent. More bike than anyone (pro racers exempt) will ever need. I think the R1 looks better. If it was my money, I'd get the Gsxr, as Bill stated, parts availability is far superior in the Gsxr line.

As for the can, like it will be on there long enough to worry about what it looks like.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

Take a look at Gixxer.com for opinions on the 1K. Someone there has compared the bikes you are talking about. I also have read that there are some complaints on the Gixxer that probably would be worked out on next years model. There is always updates or modifications when a new model comes out.

What were you thinking??? You can't catch me!

everybody knows that the new gixxer is the lightest most powerful literbike out right now.... it isn't a debate of which one is better on paper...it is all about user preference...ergos and such

I don't know about the size of Rossi's digit but, if I had HIS Yamaha I'd stop riding GSX-Rs. Then again I guess he's proven that the right rider can be on the wrong bike and still "git 'er done".

small dicks cost extra, we have to...........

grow you one big enough to ride the bike and that takes time
big issue right now is r1s are getting very short in supply gixxers are plentiful for now. I can help with both if you want it.
by the way read the cycle world article from eastern creek austrailia about the new gixxer being the easiest bike to ride fast.

GSXR is normally THE bike.

But, in the 1000cc market?!

R1 wins. Motor + handling (OK, and looks!) it can't be beat. . . OK, maybe by the Kawi.

studies do show that Yamaha riders have bigger penises than Suzuki riders and Suzuki riders have bigger penises than Honda riders. On the other hand.. Kawasaki riders have the biggest tits.

Yeah, that chick on the yammi down the street IS pretty flat.........seriously though, even being a SUZUKI guy, if I were buying a bike tomorrow, I think I'd havta go with the yamaha (in royal blue or whatever they call it)......the new zuk is fugly IMHO. (with or without that exhaust monstrosity).

Also, I sat on the 05 zuk at the show, and watched others get on and off of it, and everyone was catching their heels on the rear tail, and it was getting all scuffed up because of it. Id hate to buy a new bike and have it get all scuffed up while I was getting used to it.

despite the lack-luster cosmetics of the GSXR, it would still be my pic based on ergos and from the crap I've read in Sport Rider. But, I really like the zx10 and without seeing any seat time on any of the new litre bikes, I would buy the kawi

Seems like the reputations the litre bikes currently have are:

R1: oooooh look at how good it looks! I bet that can get the SOW teenagers wet!
1000: that can is ugly!
10R: that thing is a beast! who even rides that ?!?!?!

Besides all that, the new 1000 really seems like a trick bike...and it looks much better in person.

yeah, you're right...if you disregard the ugly muffler, the ugly tail, the ugly turn signals in the mirrors, etc...etc... IMHO, the gsxr1000 could of been a little better thought out in the looks department for sure...you could make it better with the aftermarket in time, but the R1 is just plain sexy out of the box...it may not have the amount of power of the gixxer, but horsepower doesn't allways sell a bike...but, that's just an opinion ...

I've never cared for the look of the Gixxers, and always liked the look of the R1's. But after seeing that new Gixxer at the show and sitting on it, I like it a lot! I still like the R1, but the new Gixxer is pretty close IMO. Except for the exhaust can that is.

I think I'll keep my Aprilia though!
