High School Reunions

Who went to their 10 year reunion? I just got notice about mine and I am completely on the fence about wether or not I should attend. It's $91 (which I think is completely outrageous).

Is it worth flying up there for it?

How you found us: The voices in my head told me to come here

10th, 20th and just hit the 30th last Nov. All were a waste of time, but I'm glad I went. This time 2 girls I couldn't even remember came up to tell me they had a crush on me in highschool in front of my wife. Another old girl friend called up a 3rd from the class under ours after I asked about her and she showed up just to see me and tells me she is divorsed. So my wife is now shooting me daggers. I gave her a big hug and a kiss and reminded her that she has me and that she is better than anything in the room. Then I screwed the moment up telling her to just remember that I'm the man.

So what's my point? Go ahead and drag yoru tail up there. What's $100? Some of the stuff that happens at reunions is priceless.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

I went to my 10 , and had my 20 year a few months ago. They were fun. It's good to see some of the guys you used to hang with, and what some of the "girls" look like now. If you had fun in HS, and were somewhat popular, I'd go. If not, don't waste your time.

My 10 year reunion is coming up in November (although it doesn't seem like it should be 10 years already). I am going to go back to PA for it. It should be interesting to see what people are doing, plus since I don't live there anymore it will give me a chance to visit friends.

I would save your money Allison. I went to a private school, hated every minute of high school, to cliquish for my likings, besides I fit into high school like a square peg in a round hole. 1970... Rick with eye make up, spiked hair, one red Doc Martin boot, the other green, wearing black jeans (which I dyed myself) and a torn T with the saying on it "Kill them all....let god sort them out".....I'm soooo conservative now....see what happens when you have to be the husband at business dinner parties........but if you do come up, we'll do lunch

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

I hit my ten year. Everybody asked where my twin brother was (Korea at the time). The reunion was okay, bit boring for me since it was like I was the only one who didn't have an 8 year old at home. I only went because it was set up through classmates and all the folks I wanted to see SAID they were going to show up, but never did. Seems the somewhat successfull people couldn't make it. Also, for some reason, they put these things on in the summer, when it's tough to get a free weekend. The party before hand at the local bar was much more entertaining, I ended up getting a room at the hotel next door (no..no high school sweetie involved unfortunately).

I suggest keeping an eye on how the guest list develops. If people you want to see are going to show up, then go. Otherwise, skip it. I think mine was about $50, but I didn't go to a fancy place like Barrington.

I went to the pre-10year party at a local bar the night before. I figured the career alcoholics and social outcasts would test the water there first. I was correct, and didn't feel compelled to do the more "organized" event the night before.

HS was cool. The reunion was disturbing/entertaining. If you slow down for car accidents, I suggest you make the trip. If it's boring, I hear that Jeff Sean and Rick are in the area. Dreams can come true!

My 10 yr reunion cost $75 in advance and $85 at the door. It was at a bar - all you can drink and appetizers. It went pretty well. I met a HS friend at the bar before the event and had a few pre-party drinks. I had a good time talking with old friends and people I vaguely remembered. It was worth it for me (although I did not travel).

+1 This is the best idea yet. I can see it now:

Went to the 10 year and it was really stupid. All the usual things happend you would expect. Weddings, divorce, babies, jobs and a few deaths. I think I'll skip the 20 year too. Now the 30?

Are we there yet?

I hit the 10 year and will probably do the 20 if they have one.
It's everything you could imagine. Many of the jocks were now just fat and/or balding badly, the pretty girls you probably wouldn't even notice in a crowd now, the suspected homo's are out, and some are married. It's entertaining, but it's really up to you, especially since you'd have to travel. If that parts no big deal, then meet up with EMR as your dates and go.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.
