My dilemma

So as some of you know I'm in paramedic school. A part of the course's requirements is completing 3rd ride times on a paramedic staffed ambulance. Well I've been riding with one guy from work and he's been super helpful and has signed off on a lot of my requirements where a lot of the other medics would give you the cold shoulder. I've roughly done about 200 hours with this guy usually every Sunday. Here's my problem...

The paramedic is in film school. While he was mentioning shooting films one day about a month ago I told him it'd be cool if he could film me and a couple guys stunting. Fast forward a couple weeks, he told me he needed a guy and girl to act in a 1 minute clip he needed to make. He's done so much for me I said sure, so Meech and I spent about 4 hours on one of our days off helping him, no big deal.

About a week ago he called me out on the riding/film thing. He wants to incorporate riding into one of his films and wants to use 3 stunters, about 10 extras and my girlfriend. Despite my most sincere efforts of showing uncertainty/availability he had already wrote a script, and is planning on shooting this. I'm in the phase of cardiology right now where usually about 40% of the class flunks out. So far I'm maintaining a 90% average and am probably in the top 5 or 6 in the class. Normally I'll have 1 or 2 days a week free time where I have to manage everything else in my life. This guy knows all this yet he keeps pushing me to do this film. Last time he called I even mentioned to him that it might be a good idea to write a new script and leave us out. Instead he wants to do meet my girlfriend and me on separate days so it accommodates both of our schedules. She's not very comfortable with this either... Last night he left me another voicemail telling me that one of his teacher's is coming out to help him film and so is a friend from California, basically whether he passes or fails is riding on this shoot. The guy has helped me out a lot and I really don't want to outright tell him no. How hard is it to take a hint?

There's no possible way I have time to arrange getting 10 people to come out to an illegal spot to stunt along with 2 other riders, especially in this phase of class. Not to mention the way he's talking this shoot is going to take about 5 hours... he knows it's not a legal spot, and the cops haven't been too friendly to my kind lately

Just be stern and let him know that at present time you would like to help him, but with school you have NO time. Tell him maybe when you get the time if he hasn't done it yet then you might be up for doin it, but until the time is allowed you can't.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

dude, either this guy is a doucehbag, or is really damn selfish. "just say no!" lol

On a serious note, tell him you'll do it after this phase of class is over. He's gotta freakin understand that! If he bring up how this is make it or brake it for him, mention it's the same for you with that class...

Or, find another guy to fill your spot, with another girl....

Seriously and he's a medic himself so he knows how tough school is. I gave him a date (may 14th) that I could do. His reply was that's to late he'll have to do it sooner and use that as a rain day. I have NO other days and I told him this, that's when he said he'd meet with my girlfriend and I on seperate days, and she wants no part of that. If he shoots the 14th he'll fail the class. Maybe I can get eric to do it hahahahahah hmmmm...

sounds like he's a hollywood sleaze wannabe pulling out the casting couch routine. maybe it's just the way you wrote it up but it seems like he want's to jump your g/f while he knows you're busy in class.

if you want to politely decline and not offend him just tell him that your bike is having engine issues and you can't ride for him on a problematic bike until the shop fixes it...which will be sometime after you're done with class/tests.

what the heck does he want you to do in that script he wrote? is he possibly going to have video to hold over your head for doing illegal stuff on the street? will he assume any liability if there are accidents in his film? does he have some kind of insurance that will cover you and your buddies if there's a fuckup during filming?

those Qs should be enough to get him off your back for a while...or you could just refer him to other riders on here (or elsewhere ) that can fulfill his filming needs...

He helped you and you feel you owe him right?

BUT, he should understand your schedule and circumstances.

After all by what you said all he did was vouch for you and you both were there working together so it wasn't that big of a deal, no change in his schedule to do that.

WTF did he write a script then tell you?

It should of been the other way around.
