Gas company choices?

So now that I bought my first place and have to pay a gas bill, I found that you can use different companies. For my first month I was with Nicor, who do you all use? Are prices any different from one to the other? Where the bucks kick in is in the delivery fees where it's almost $14 just for the service.

I use Taco Bell.

I use Nicor. I don't get a choice, being in an apartment, but even if I had a house I'd use them. Their rates are pretty good, and I've had no complaints about them.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

First time I hear that you get a choice.

Maybe you don't then. I just heard it from a guy I work with. He said "years ago we used these guys, and now Nicor."

I believe anybody in Illinois can choose a different one, but why bother? They all charge cost for the gas, the only thing they can charge is for delivery. Nicor owns all the delivery infrastructure, so any other company you use is going to have to pay Nicor for the use of the infrastructure, then charge you to make a profit, so in the end your gas bill would be higher. My theory anyway.

I get a choice, but Nicor's always been the cheapest. They get the delivery charges no matter who you choose anyway and so far I haven't seen anyone offer the gas for less $ than Nicor.
