Not sure what you're talking about. His new album is great. It's actually much closer on line with PHM then Fragile ever could be. In fact even TDWS was off par. Don't get me wrong TDWS had a couple good tracks but was way too commercial for it to be excellent on all accounts.

TDWS....that gives me a thought.

"The Downward Spiral" is probably not a good name for an album, it might have jinx'd his career path at the time.

Cases in point:
Smoking Popes > 'Destination Failure' (& 'Get Fired' & 'Born to Quit')
Hum > Heavenward is Downward

you make the assumption that Hum was ever really big. They had one hit, Stars. Good band, but never really broke through. Champaign band if i remember right.

They never were really big, neither were the Popes, but they were on their way, or so it seemed. Regardless, they are/were both great bands. Stars was a lame song, IMO, the rest of that album is awesome though.

On the topic of awesome bands that never got their big break, check out Swervedriver. OMG....'Mezcel Head' is a wonderful album.

I have that Hum album, its good but not a super great "should be a breakout" type album. The smoking popes were bigger.

As far as the Hum album goes, dig up 'Electra 2000' if you can find it....
