ridin' legal in chicago

Ok, got the licence, title/registration, insurance, bike is on its way... but saw a bike today with some strange metal round thing attached to its plate. Is there some other thing/fee I need to pay/purchase? In Virginia you need a certificate of inspection, but I didn't think they needed those here. What is that thing?

That is the city parking medallion. Get caught parking on the streets without one and you will get a ticket. Cough up another $45 for the medallion

If you have a parking spot, it's dealer's choice. I have always had a garage spot, and never had a medallion. Unless you plan on parking quite a bit around town for work etc... I'd skip it.

Where are you at in the city? Looking forward to seeing the bike!

I think aslong as you live in Chicago, wether you park on the streets or not you still need to have the medallion.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

Yeah,
It's not a parking medallion, it's a city registration. Equivilent to the city sticker on your car, Skokie has the same thing(but much smaller). I think they're $45.00 for city registration and you can buy them at city hall. You could also go through a currency exchange but they don't keep them on hand so you have to return to pick it up.

Yep, if you get pulled over they will fine you double the cost of the medallion and then make you pay another $45 to get one.

If the vehicle is registered to you and your drivers license states you have a Chicago address most cops will give you a ticket even if your bike is registered in the burbs or Virginia for insurance purposes.

I know a guy who registered his bike in his girlfriends name because she lived in the burbs. They broke up and she took the bike from him. I know another guy who registered his bike in the burbs for cheaper insurance, wiped out and was denied coverage for insurance fraud.
