Don't like cats to much do you...?

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Then you have to use a camel spider.

That was pretty cool. Especially since thats a species that doesnt usually take such large prey. I was especting to see a good 10" Theraphosa blondi (Goliath Bird Eater) instead of a maybe 5" Grammostola rosea (Chillean Rose Hair). Rosies are the typical mild petstore tarantula. Ok, I know Im full of useless info.

Actually that picture is a fake. "Camel Spiders" arent even spiders at all, they are solifugids, still an arachnid, but closer to a scorpion than a spider. In that picture they look so large because of the camera angle, but they rarely grow over 3". That species is actually the largest, and fastest solifugid in the world. In that hot, arid region, people think they are chasing them simply because solifugids hunt during the day by running from shade patch to shade patch. They really arent chasing the person, they are chasing their shadow. And as fast as they are, they can keep up. As for what they eat, small insects, probably nothing larger than your average beetle. No climbing up a camel and eating into their stomach. Oh, and they contain no venom what so ever.

Here are some pics of a Theraphosa blondi eating a mouse. T blondi is arguably the largest tarantula. There is a vid of one killing and eating a 2' Fer De Lance, Ill post it if I can find it.

Why did I open this thread? I hate spiders!

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Gee, you guys can't take a joke.

BTW, as long as we are being a little serious no one commented that those were 2 camel spiders in the picture. Oh, I heard 5" to 6" max and they can run up to 10mph. Also, if you want to see how close they are to scorps, look closely at the bottom spider. See the "paddles"? They are commonly found on scorps to feel vibrations.
