Looks like it hit the chair, and not the kid. Or if it hit the kid, it still hit the chair to repel him/her.

note to self, do not go on any swing rides at the amusment park... damn that looked really bad but i dont think the top of the ride actually fell on the kid but more of yanked him and tossed him, but either way it really sucked for anyone on the ride.
