damn village

okay,

so I needed to have my hardwood floors redone. somebody came recommended, so we had him come over and inspect the job, and gave us a quote, the quote was fair, so we had him do the job.

He comes over today, starts the job, and a few hours into the job, the village code inspector tells him he can't finish because he isn't registered with the village, so now I have to find another guy who can Finish the job and who is registered with the village of westchester (aint that a kick in the balls)

Damn you have to have a code inspector come out just to get your floors sanded? Wonder why? or Did someone call them thinking you were doing something else that you shouldn't of been doing? If that's the case looks like ya gonna have a hard time living there with the nosey neighbors

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

Dude that is total BS, all you have to say is it's your buddy helping you out. Unless this is a job that requires a permit that you don't have tell that guy to shut the fuck up and get the fuck off your property. Don't let the village bully you into using someone connected with them. My dad lives in Westchester and has had plenty of work done by people that have for sure not been registered.

Seriously your getting jagged.

Sounds to me like this contractor pissed someone off on a different job. that sounds like payback to me.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Registered with the village for floor sanding????????????????

Note to self: When relocating, Westchester is not an option.

okay,

so I called into the village and got a list of the people that are registered with westchester. two people with flooring in the name. The first is I left a message the second wants $5 a square foot. (The guy that was going to do it was 90 cents a square foot.) The second guy I called, wants $1.20 a square foot, but isn't registered with Westchester, but has done lots of work in westchester.

The only problem is now, I have a stop work order on my house, that says I can't work on it until this is corrected. I simply don't know what to do. I need to have it done, don't have the time or the skills to do it my self. and I don't have $7000 to have it done by apex flooring.

Ask him if he will finish it at 1 in the morning, put newspapers on all the windows so noone can see in. If the inspector comes back after its done, tell him you did it yourself cause he and the village are such F%ckin C&ck S*cks!

What is the problem with getting him registered with Westchester? What can it cost and how long can it take? He accepted the job. He should take care of it.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

What BS, I have a buddy who lives in Lake in the Hills who is having his place redone due to a drunk driver driving THRU his house. He is going thru the same shit with these inspectors. These guys are dicks and corrupt. Their job takes all of 5 mins. to do but they love busting peoples balls and dragging shit out and looking for cash under the table to get things going. You know, just to feel powerful. They do this as a full time job when in reality they could work 10 hr weeks and get as much done. I could see if you were running gas lines or major electrical work, but floor. Come on if someone screws up the floor the worse that could happen is someone would say it looks shitty, no life threatening stuff. Should have slipped him a C-note.

How well do you know the guy that started the job, kind of sounds like you've been scammed. He starts the job for cheap, then calls the inspector so you have to get it done for a lot more than expected. If the guy won't come back to finish the job I think you have been had.

Either way don't give anyone any more money that is related to this situation. The village should not be able to monopolize construction by forcing people to register or refuse registry. Man, the more I think about it the more this wreaks of a scam.

i called another company in elmhurst and he is going to call the village right now, and confirm what he has to do, to make sure that there is no problems, he said he could do it for $1.25 and $20 a stair, he also said he could do it without a problem. I am going to call him back and get this taken care of...
