another stupid motorcycle safety class question...

ok...looking to jump in on a class even though EVERYTHING is filled up...

what time do these start?
is there a classroom thats designaed for this that you start in for the begining of the class and do they have these posted somewhere?

im looking to go to ecc for mine...but never been there and no clue what im about to do about checking in...any help you guys can toss me would be great...

i know this has more then likely been answered before. but if anyone who went to the ecc location and can give me pointers...i would really appreciate it...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Don't know about ECC, but class does start in a classroom around 06:00p.m. Don't be late because they typically close the doors at 06:00p.m. Those on the inside are in, and those outside are out weather your registered or not. I would suggest calling ECC to confirm the time and get the room number.

Good Luck,

There's usually a set meeting place at each location. If you show up early 5:15-5:30, you can be put in a lottery for a walk-in position. If you go on a weekend that's going to be especially hot or a weekend it's supposed to rain, there are usually a few people who don't show up.

I believe you have to register as a walkin first, then go to the specified classroom at 5pm on friday. It doesn't matter who gets there first, because it's a lottery. There's a section on the niu page that lists where all the classrooms are.

And BusaGirl, I doubt any instructor will give you private lessons because of liability reasons. I've heard instructors talk about this before with the no way in hell sort of attitude. There is an ERC class this weekend, but I'm not sure if its full or not.

Deuces, what locations do you work? I'm a range aid for COD/NIU.

I got my cert at COD and I got a slot at CLC for someone in July... looking to teach COD and ECC mostly. I was taking the MIP and student teaching the week of that nasty storm you were on the double range

Normally ECC has a trailer parked in one of the lots. Turn into ECC at Spartan dr. (by Colonial). Take the first right into the parking area, and look for the mobile classroom. If you get to the pond, your to far!

Let others confirm, but I think if you show up at 5:30, for the 6:00 Friday class, you can put your name in a lottery. I'm still confused if you have to sign up as a walk-in, and how all that works.

Hope this helps.

Ken.

I believe you just need to sign in that night as a walk-in to be put in the lottery.

For the BRC or ERC, just show up early (no pre sign-up), and cross your fingers.......when I took the ERC class, everyone showed up that was signed up, and the instructors still took some walk ins (since you use your own bike).....I dont believe thats the case with the BRC as they have a limited number of bikes. Make sure you bring your DL, and proof of insurance for the ERC class, and make sure your bike will pass inspection cause they do check it (if if fails, your out)............as for the BRC, just hope someone is a no-show.......I would assume the earlier you get there and tell them you are a walk-in, the better your chances of being "picked".

As far as weather is concerned, Ive heard that in the ERC class there are actually more no-shows when the weather is nice since the attendees are already riders, and may decide to ride that day instead of go to the class.

Good Luck.

Thunderstruck,

Go here and you will be able to find all the info needed.

No need to be there before 5:30. It is a lottery and not first come first serve.

I don't do it for money

really, liability is so high that I would not dream to do a full private class. I would have no problem giving a few tips here and there if asked.
