yes, DO A SEARCH!

the consensus is buy it downtown at jewlers row, save a ton of money over the big jewlery stores.

Seriously... look at the other posts...

As a female I will swear to this part... The ring is not NEARLY as important as the proposition (Place, how you did it... ensuring the surprise!)!!!! That will last forever... the ring can always be upgraded (don't kill yourself over paying for it... it's not fun to have that debt lingering after a wedding...).

I suggest buying the diamond separate. Believe it or not, if you can get to a K's Merchandise you may be able to find a real deal. They sometimes have a loose diamond event.

Good luck!

Never get a 1-karat diamond or a 2-karat diamond exactly...

Reason... a 1k can be sold for a lot more then a .99 k so .... the guys that cuts the raw diamond into the pretty form you buy are under pressure to maintain the size above the nearest Karat.... so they don't cut it as well... to maintain the size... look for 1.1 and up , 2.1 and up … depending on what size you are looking for

Also make sure that if you get a ring with more then 1 diamond that the diamonds have the same fluorescence.... the fluorescence of a diamond is how it sparkles under different light conditions... a low fluorescence diamond will look really bright when there is a lot of light but will not really do much under dim light like candle or in a darker room..... The high fluorescence diamonds will bling like mad from only a little light but will appear sort of dull in bright light... of you do not match the fluorescence of the rocks on a multi-stone ring it will look kind of off like one rock is always sort of dirty…

There is a lot more I can warn you about rings like the kind of inclusions they may have but you are better off just doing a web search….

good luck

Kenny

If and when I ever do this, I'll buy a loose stone from a guy I know that owns a pawn shop and have it mounted.

But, I'm sure I'll never get married.
