Naperville Parking Solution

we should get about 200 of us together and all park individually in each parking spot early saturday morning and leave them there all day. you would of course have to be completely legal to particapate, but it would be a great way to show some kind of stance against the parking enforcment officers that go to far with telling us where we can and cant park. my partner and i pay about 8600.00 a year in property taxes a year to put up with this kind of abuse and discrimination. we should do something...

good luck with that doin anything. with the new parking building people will just go there, and you'd need hella more than 200 to fill both buildings.

I still say we just take over Jimmy's.. It says motorcycle parking, not chopper parking only. What then?

Im glad i dont live in naperville. To know theres a starbucks in town. EW.

8,000 isn't too bad for upper middle class. That is prob a reason it is high to keep out certain types of people.

Better yet just go tot he city council meeting and bitch. your not going to change anything by annoying the cops, they just enforce the laws, you have to get to the poeple that make the laws to affect any change.

Sorry, but I have been reading you guys talk about this for 2 weeks now and have not said a word :X

Why do you want to park in front of Starbuck's? To look cool on your bike Out of the 118 million times I've been there I never even thought of parking my bike out front. There is always pleanty of parking kiddy-corner on that side street. We ALL know that there is only underage girls to impress anyhow. Just wear your jacket around, they'll know you have a bike then if it's so important to you.

It's basicly guys like you who are ruining it for us to go to Naperville... the only thing you're doing is pissing the police off more. I sometimes like to piss people off too but this is a lost cause.

Then to top it off you're next best idea is to park in front of Jimmy's?
That's a great idea...NOT (let's piss more people off) There is only enough room for about 10 bikes there anyhow and those are paying customers.

Maybe you all can help out and park on the side streets, it's really not that 'cool' to park all together.

Point is...Naperville has it for us all ready, if anything we want NOT to piss them off anymore than they all ready are.

besides, they dont care about the sportbike riders, just the yuppy harley and chopper riders that spend 18 to 50k on a bike. i do see your point though, so maybe we should get a ton of us together for a city council meeting, and if that doesnt work... by the way tony, no offense.

The thing that gets me is that the police will tell you not to park somewhere and to move somewhere else and then have the same cop come back 5 minutes later and tell you that you can't park where he told you to move. Kinda irritating IMO

and when they come to your door, to take your gun, you wont want to piss them off either will you? this isnt about pissing them off, this is about being able to park where there is space, not where they say we can. when they are in there mood, ect. it is about freedom, just not on a very high level. it is about the attitude of the officer, it is about the fact that when we are there it brings revenue to that city. it isnt about chicks, underage or otherwise, it is about talking with your buds or budettes about bikes or whatever else. it is a nice atmosphere, and sitting in front of a coffee shop with your bike has been celebrated for more years than you have been alive. not just in naperville. but all over the world. it has inspired paintings articles in magazines photography and all the like. it isnt about looking cool, impressing girls, ect. it is about tradition. by the way, about 14 years ago, we were banned from parking in front of the library too. no reason, just banned... so till you know all the facts about who and why, leave it alone.

none taken, I see it all the time. But realize there is a reason for that, those other riders spend a lot of money in the establishments in town. They go into the restaurants and stay in there and spend all kinds of money So naturally the business owners are going to find a way to cater to them. we go into jimmys an might spend 100 bucks on food etc in an hour and a half, but the sportbike guys on the other street are usually just milling around out front with thier 3 dollar coffee for 2 hours scaring away all the soccer moms then they clear out. so if you look at the dollar spent ratio you can see where the village is going to show its allegance. Is it descriminatory, sure it is, but thats what drives the market. thats all pat of whatever bike you choose to ride. ride a cruiser and you loose speed and handling, but gain repect from shopkeepers, ride a sportbike and gain speed and handling and loose respect from the general public. theres pro's and cons to everything we do in life and its not always going to be fair, we just have to decide what's acceptable to us and what isnt.

Man, I guess I've just been lucky. NO license plate, NO mirrors, NO city sticker, NO turn signals, and I do as I please. Park in that area ALL the time, along with 2 or 3 other bikes that are just like mine.

there is plenty of coffee shops outside of downtown with plenty of parking, and benches to sit on, so don't give me the bs about it not being about posing. And frankly, you buying a cup of joe, isn't really brining in all that much revenue.

i eat at potters 3 times a week, minimum, starbucks, at least 2 a day minimum, property taxes, 8500.00 per year in naperville. its where i eat lunch every day its where i bring my daughter for time alone so she can feed the ducks, i have refied hundreds of homes in naperville and i spend hundreds a month there. for those that know me, they know its true. if ya dont, your talkin out the wrong hole. and as i said before, it isnt for me, about posing, it is about the downtown atmosphere that i love. and despite your "posing" comment, i happen to like THAT starbucks. Not to pose, but to sit reflect and people watch. thats what i like to do. by the way, i go there without my bike too... so i can "pose" in my durango... i park that in front of starbucks too... never got a ticket, and the chicks dig it.
