Just curious...Mods, and long time members...

Tony, Mods and longtime members.....

Were you all track junkies before this site came about, or was that a result of the site and meeting each other?

I think for most it started after we all met. I was an archer cruising squid in oakleys and Zoobaz drag racing in cicero everynight on a busa or my zx-11 before I met these guys.

Definitely a result of meeting and riding with the members here. I thought I was hot shit keeping them all in sight on the streets my first year of riding...

Just when I started to think I was becoming a resident toughguy, some of the site members invited me out to the track.

Let's just say that was a "realization" about what motorcycles were capable of. I've been humbled ever since. To this day I bore people to tears in the pits with all my questions.

It's amazing how deep the rabbit hole really goes...

Hell I never made it to the track. I didnt want to do it on a Bus, I had plans of getting a track bike but never did, although one may be in my future.

I started researching track days and performance riding schools in 2001. My first on-track experience was Learning Curves in April of '02. Right about the same time I discovered the Chicagoland forum on SBN. I think.

By the time this site happened most of my track riding was behind me. I think I've only done 3 track days since I joined.

I never got around to going to the track.

I was supposed to years ago but a month before I was due to run the course (for the 1st time) I had a pretty bad crash. After that I just didn't feel like wasting more money (that's what it felt like to me anyway after my bike was fixed) on the track so I just opted out of it altogether.

Besides I kinda like like the scenery when I ride, new sites and the track your kinda stuck in one place sniffing everyone's exhaust. But this NO insult to the track people of course but to me it's a little boring.

To each his/her own, I guess.

I was a junky before CLSB....it started about 4 years ago. I may have been a member of SBN but I do not think so.

My old bud Dave did a riding school up in Minnesota and then found out about Nesba. The rest was history. We met Jimbo, Jeff, Pete, Lupi and Shannon shortly thereafter.

I heard of CLSB back on SBN. Got banned on there and spent more time here. The people on here are a lot closer group and its more enjoyable then other forums.

Talking

Being one of the elderly people here, but relatively new to the internet, I met Ken at Chris's first trackday. He told me about CLSB. So you all can blame him for my being here.
So I guess in my case it was simultaneous.
What I've said before, you'll never ride as fast for as long as you will on the track regardless of the group you track with. Street riders just don't get it until they try for themself.

Is it time for Bud yet.

Indeed, take the pill. Honestly though. It definitely changes your attitude on riding street. I used to ride my bike to work everyday, and blast through the twisties in starved rock every weekend. I rarely do either now. I've had too many speeding/wheelie tickets, too many close calls with you name it, and my attitude on riding the streets sucks. Sad but true.

I started riding track with NESBA and met JimGoFast on the NESBA board. I'd been looking for people with which to ride since I just moved here and had no friends. Jim pointed me to this board.... the rest is history.

SBN first. Met Fred and a few others at his place and then the IL subboard shot off into CLSB. Met Ken and a host of others at a cookout in Lake Geneva and then watched Ken's first CLSB trackday. Did 2 of them last year and will do some next year IF I can find enough time/bike/money....I loved CLSB trackdays, feels more intimate than Nesba.

Started on the street on a 1982 Honda CB900C (nice big 10 speed ) Then got the TL1000R and also found this site back when it was on SBN. Only then after coming on here did I start doing track. Much much nicer than running through the streets any day, though sometimes it's still fun to tear up the hwy's late at night. Now I'm considering dropping street riding completely except possibly for F4T or other big rides for the track.
