Wherever you buy it I highly recommend an extended warranty(if its not more then 50 dollars). They break A LOT

Go and get Nano 4Gb.
No HD just Samsung Flash memory.
I just ordered a nano for my self. You have to wait like 2 week to get it.
Samsung can't make enough memory for nano, they sell too fast.
Nano is one tough SOB. I was reading review, and took two runs of Vw Jetta to crash LCD, but player was still working, then they drop it from 40FT, stopped working, but did not split apart.
It's very small but hard as a rock.

technote says that it's trying to run diagnostics which can take up to 15-20 min if you have a large disk.

read more about it here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60943

if the filesystem is corrupt but the disk is good you can always mount it up on your computer and reformat the drive and just resync your music files with itunes again. if you're getting the last icon in the article above then it's probably time for a replacement drive or new ipod.

if it's toast, you can probably still make a few bucks off of it on ebay by selling it for it's battery....

g'luck

The HPShopping.com website offers the remaining iPods with a 15 percent instant rebate in an effort to sell the remaining players it has on hand, according to PC World. The company is selling the iPod shuffle for $84 and $110, which normally sell for $99 and $129. The 4 GB iPod mini is selling for $169 and the 20 GB iPod for $254.

Back in July HP announced it would stop selling Apple's iPod because the digital music device wasn't helping the company lead the market.

HP CEO Mark Hurd told Business Week online in August that "there are a lot of bets we can make, but we want to make those bets in markets that are exciting, have growth, are worth dominating -- make that "leading," the lawyers don't like "dominating" -- and in which, by the way, we can lead. So think about putting our logo on the iPod. Is the market worth leading? Maybe it is. But can we lead it, with no or very little technology differentiation? Doubtful. You have to go into places where you can lead."

I've heard bad things about the Nano's body. The screen cracks easily and the case scratches very easily. At first Apple said sorry, deal with it, but after so many complaints they are fixing the problems for free.

Apple Admits Problem with iPod Nano

Not to say Nano's are good, but they aren't problem free. I have an iPod mini and I think its great.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!
