racial discussion deleted. WHY?

Why was the "Amazing Racist" thread deleted? We were actually having a good dicussion without flaming or getting pissed off. I was enjoying seeing other points of view. There was nothing that I saw that warrented the deletion. Can someone please clue me in to why it was deleted?

apparently it's too much work to moderate a big thread like that even when no clean ups were necessary

Dam, I missed it! Had no idea that thread got juicy.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

It was titled "Amazing Racist". It was some movies of a white dude pissing random minorities off. The movies didn't really have much to do with it, but we were having a decent discussion from it.

For starters, it wasn't off track or offensive (all the time). It was however getting extremely long winded (not just Loki's novels either) and it seemed to me that the same points were being re-hashed over and over and over again every page.

I tried to just close it so everyone could still read it and learn from it or whatever...but then someone *cough cough* bwa threw a hissy fit. In the process of trying to unlock it... I managed to send it into the deep dark abyss of lost threads.

One of the supermods / admins might be able to rescue it...but I can't.

If you need me to summarize those 8 pages lemme know I think I can do that pretty easily.

bwa - it's a joke, and it's funny.

Loki - it's not funny. Something about a firehose. Black people have it rougher than you think.

Meech - women get shit on too

Logtar - Racism is bad, and it pisses me off. We need to work on that.

Dr. D - This is a joke, I get it, I'll try to explain it to you.

SloRoll - there are more women than black people.

Reverend Rice - I have smoked garbage bags of weed lately and that makes me funny-er.

Jojo - I'm white, but I know what it's like to know what it's like you dig?

Pirate - it's all a staged gag. I know where you can buy the DVD.

Phew...

Lemme know if you need a full recreation.

Sorry oldschool, total oversight on my part. For those of you keeping score at home, please add the following to that discussion:

oldschoolninja - those videos were okay, but what really chaps my ass are those stupid kids and their built up 15sec Civics talking trash about the ultimate icon of American automotive engineering, unadulterated speed and sex appeal. No, not the Shelby Cobra, I'm talking about the FIERO!

I'm glad that our discussion brought so much humor to all of your lives but if long-winded and repetitive is grounds for closing a thread why do we even have the politics forum? I think it's BS that the thread was closed because of the reasons stated.

Okay - with my serious face on this time.

First of all, it wasn't in the politics forum. It was in the Open Forum. The thread originated about some videos that some felt were off-color (no pun intended) and others thought was relevant and funny.

Granted, some very useful discussion took place, and some very valid points made in the process.

HOWEVER, the thread itself was winding down, and getting difficult to piece thorugh. I encourage you to start another thread dealing with your points specifically. I wasn't closed for content, or flaming etc. It was closed because it appeared to the casual observer that everyone said what they wanted/needed to say.

My apologies for cutting it off "early". Again, you're more than welcome to fire it up again.

JoJo,

Race is a f*ed subject that in many levels is sad it is even a part of our lives. It was a good discussion but it is not what this forum was about. Jay posted it to stir the pot, it happened, it was going nowhere and with all the "drama" lately, maybe in a couple of months we can have a serious, politics forum discussion about race. Check out my blog, I have posted plenty about Race... right now those videos are not half of what Katrina did to show race inequality and while that is a debatable subject we should just let the dust settle here for a while and concentrate on what this board is about, uniting riders and educating people about motorcycles.

It's all good Thanks for the explaination and apology. I'm sure it's a pain being a mod in the open forum.

Say it loud!

(Pauses the porn on WMP)

Well I thought it was going good (aside from one person going somewhere else entirely with it). I don't see what all the fuss was about. It's about to be the off season for most people and more off motorcycle convos are about to happen.

Oh did I mention I'm Black and I'm proud?

Funny summery of us UD. Very on point too!

(unpauses porn and continues to "watch" it)
