Jury Duty

Wow. Was the first time I was ever called for jury duty. (This past week.) Wouldn't you know it, I was picked for a case. It lasted 3 days. It was a criminal case but a small one. (battery) Bar fight.
We found the chap not guilty.
Anyway, I am really surprised at the whole process. Being on that jury. Even though it was a small case, it has given me more appreciation for our country and being an American.
Say what you want about the "system" (god knows I have) but going through this was an amazing experience. Also scary because GOD knows who you'll get on your jury. Yeah the lawyers try to do their best but some of the people on our jury were questionable! (their mindset that is.) It was also amazing the number of people on our jury that were like "sheep." They didn't have a clue and were lost after the 1st day. So when it came time to deliberate they just went with the majority. (That in its self was scary!)

Anyway, thought I'd share.

Carry on!

I voted the guy not guilty. It came down to the state only supplying 2 witnesses and the defendant supplying 7 plus he took the stand. In my mind, there just wasn't enough evidence "beyond a reasonable doubt" that this guy was the aggressor.
So many facts in the case, so many made up stories, so may different views.
States Attorney did not bother to find any independent witnesses where as the defendent's lawyer did. ect ect.
The states attorney was not prepared.
Anyway, whole thing was pretty long for a simple little bar fight.
All's well.
