Cool Don't judge a book by it's cover

Whether you are male or female, black or white, overweight or underweight, short or tall, someone in a crowd, at a party, in your office has probably already developed an opinion about you without really getting to know you. If you have NEVER had that misfortune then you are lucky!

I think some of the most powerful words that I have ever heard were spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King; "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Sadly, we are no where near that day and sadly people's prejudices, perceptions and even stupidity stand in the way of us being a kinder, gentler nation—one where a man or woman is truly based on their character.*

Get to know who people really are and what they are passionate about. Try to avoid passing judgment based off of a message boards, or secondhand banter. Be kind to those people around you, even though you might not share their same opinions, this is what makes us all unique.

Yeah. Words to live by. If I did base my opinions of people by how they looked, I would THINK that Mitch was a decent upstanding citizen, but we all know better.

Seriously, good post.

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

Good message, ya blonde bimbo.

Prediction...this thread will start out positive and then crash in a blazing inferno.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

There isn't a single person in the world that doesn't judge a book somewhat by its cover. I think the proper statement is don't listen to you initial judgements until evidence has been put forth that your judgements are true. I think that is a more realistic statement.

Contributing to the board, and the Open Forum in a positive manner.

Also, I feel that there are a few people here that have fallen victim to this, and maybe everyone taking a step back could result in a happier community.
