cold weather = hot cocktails

The onset of cooler weather has me thinking about hot cocktails, no not hot cock's WSE so don't get your hopes up.

Starbucks has several tasty sounding recipes using their new coffee liqueur, but what are your personal favorites....

Did somebody say hot cock!!??

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I didnt say it was cold now. We're currently in the heavy beer months, but we're moving towards the hot cocktail months.

I didn't know I was supposed to change my drink depending on the time of year.

so I guess I will just have to put less ice in my Cranberry Vodka.

Here is recipe from cold parts of europe:

Glintwein. (hot spicy wine)

1 bottle of red wine
2 shots of brandy or rum
1 cup apple sider/juice
cinnamon,
coriander,
lemon peel,
cloves.

heat up wine, brandy and apple sider/juice, but DO NOT BOIL, boil cinnamon sticks, cloves, coriander and lemon peel separate in small pot with little water for about 10 minutes, mix up the spice juice with wine and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. It has to be just below boiling temp, but never boiling!

"Good" Cider is not aquired, it's fashioned. It's like modern day moonshine without all the explosions.

I won't give away the family recipe, but as you might guess there is Apple Cider involved. From there you can used your imagination. Spiced Rum? A whiff of Vodka? Cyanide?

Mix and match, warm it up in a pot with some cinammon sticks, and enjoy.

Ugh. You got me thinking about port. I took a new employee out to celebrate his joining us and I drank about 1/2 bottle after starting with a Bombay Sapphire up last night.

i use an easy recipe for spiked cider. go out and buy an apply cider of your choice. i like motts to be honest. you have to go to a gourmet store to get a can of mulling spices. pour about 1 cup of mulling spices into a pan, add apple cider and cinnamon sticks let simmer for 10-15 min but never to a boil.

add 3/4 bottle of captain morgan spiced rum to a thermos, after straining out the mulling spices pour the cider in with the capt morgan. you would be voluntarilly wearing only a bathing suit if you were drinking that sitting in antartica

that is the best drink for sub zero bears game tailgates.
