Uhhhhhh???

I have a 'puter question.

I have like alot of pictures that I have taken on a water skiing trip. I want to send them via email. I usually just "attach" pictures one at a time to an email, but I have over 300 to send. Can I attach the whole file they are contained in, instead of attaching 300 individual jpeg's?

Rick

assuming you have multiple friends/relatives that want to see the pics. it's easier to throw them up on a website rather than bombing everyone's emailbox with that much info.

Google WinZip. Download it.

That said, you cant take 300 photos, and zip them all and get one file that large through most email systems. Find out what the largest file attachment acceptable by your email recipient. Usually 3-10 meg max. Then make ZIP files that size and send.

For example, create Zips of 50 photos each... and see what size they are. If too big, try it with 25... you get the idea.

Have fun,

Wink

Yes if you use Photoshop it will auto create an entire web photo gallery with thumbnails that you could then upload to your website. in one shot.

that much data via email will cause all sorts of problems.

They won't compress much anyway. I would imagine that he doesn't have his camera set up to take .tif files, so they will be .jpg already, which is already compressed. Even if they are split into numerous .zip files to get them small enough to get through mail system. Many mailboxes have an overall limit as well as the limit on individual messages.

The best thing to do would be to upload them to some web space and let the folks that need them download them, but you'll still want to group them with a .zip file. Something else that you may want to think about doing (whichever way you go), is that if you have an image editing program, resize them to 800x600 or 640x480, which will decrease the file size considerably. The easiest way to do this is with a batch process in Photoshop or Fireworks.

use free photo sites if you don't have web capabilities. Some free sites include:
snapfish
photobucket
and if you have yahoo, you can post them on your profiles page.

But, its almost worth having a friend who owns pshop do it for you.

Another way: burn to CD and send/give to friends.

Thats what I did for my motoGP trip last summer to Germany/England.
800 photos. Burned to CD and let my friends decide which ones they want printed out.

good luck.

+1 on photobucket!! I also like using Yahoo and Comcast for sharing photos with family memebers, photobucket is more for hosting the pics. Or if you have AOL I like AOL's "You got pictures" feature!

upload the file to

http://www.yousendit.com

it doesn't matter the size! And then you can email multiple people the link and they can just download it from there if you want. I would just suggest what everyone else is saying... do a webhost or some type.. yahoo or something of that nature.
