Woooo Hoooooo!!!!!!

I just received a phone call from the manager @ Experian and they are fed exing my offer package today!!

I'm SO excited!! GOD I cannot wait to tell my manager now to go fuck himself! I'm not quite sure yet if I'm going to give them a 2 weeks notice...Of course I'll call in like next Thurs and Fri to give myself a little 4 day weekend since I have some paid time off left, and come back and sit there doing NOTHING....When they come back to ask me why I haven't done a single thing all day, I'll just tell them because I don't feel like working today, maybe even go home one day early, and tell them I don't feel like working anymore today, I'm going home. I'm also working on a pretty big project for them, because the only people in our department who knew how to read java script and html were me and my old manager who also quit. I was thinking I could also turn in the project blank, and then tell them I quit...Then they have no one to go to with coding errors! The only reason I am being like this is because they have really been so shady lately. I haven't had a bonus in like 6 months and I am the top perfomer in my dept and I have the most knowledge out of everyone, but since I am on a warning for leaving early a few days a month ago when I needed to take my pop to the dr, I do not get bonuses or anything else for that matter....because our new manager is a fuckin idiot and has no idea how to run a department, and now he is looking at my computer log in times everyday and if I am ONE freakin minute late he is giving ME shit!! It really makes me mad, and they just don't appreciate me, so why should I appreciate them!! We have people who sit their and talk shit about the company all day, and don't care about what they do, and don't do shit right, when I try to correct them, they just tell me they don't care....NICE! Do you think they get any grief from the manager - NOPE! I've been their for 4 years and have received awards that managers haven't even ever received....I've even gotten an email from the CEO of our damn company thanking me for saving one of our biggest clients that was about to switch everything to metavanta...and they didn't BECAUSE OF ME! Okay I'm just getting mad now!! I'll just stop!

BUT IM SOOOOO HAPPY ABOUT THE JOB OFFER!!!! Tomorrow night I will be DT Naperville having a freakin BLAST!!!

KJ

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I know how much you hate your current job....HOWEVER, be VERY professional when you tell them you are leaving. It will only do good for you in the long run. Whatever you think about others, craft your world so that no one can say anything bad about you. Just tell them that you appreciate all the opportunities that they gave you, and that you have grown a lot in this job, but that you will be moving on. Tell them that you would like to give them 2 weeks' notice, but are more than willing to help them with anything they need prior to your departure.

Congrats... +1 on don't burning bridges... You never know when you might need them as a reference. The one thing they can say if you don't give two weeks is you are not available for rehire. Prospective empoyers can draw many conclusions from that... Enjoy two weeks of posting on CLSB at work and doing whatever you want... oh shit ... you already do that..

congrats!

have fun composing the letter of resignation. blow the usual smoke up their corporate butt and thank them for the experience...you have other career goals or challenges in mind that you'd like to pursue...blah blah blah...

like the others have said, don't burn bridges. the business world is indeed a small place and word travels fast. you never know who you're going to run into in the future and how it will affect you. here's an example, I'm working on a new contract job next week in downtown Chicago. It turns out one of the people I'll be working with/for was on a whitewater rafting trip 2 years ago. We had mutual friends in a raft. I barely remember him but he recalls me very clearly and is excited to be working with me.

edit: and nooooo ya sickos, there was nothing Deliverance-like related that occured

+1 on the not burning bridges. This world is smaller than many think.

Sounds like your boss is a real tool. No need to lower yourself to his level. It also sounds like there are others there that know your valuable. By staying professional, and giving 2 weeks notice, it reinforces your good image with the old company and it shows the new company that hired you that you don't leave ex-employers high and dry. As an added bonus, you get to see the state of panic as your boss and the others come to the realization that you won't be there anymore and have to scramble / do actual work to get someone else. You're in a position of power, enjoy it while it lasts.

IMO.

+1 I agree, you have the unique oppourtunity that many dont get. BE very professional, maybe even turn it up a notch...Watch them squirm now that you are leaving.....You never know what or who you'll see on the other side and who ends up following you too!! The next boss might be even worse..

Congrats though, sounds like you got it all figured out..... No BAd KArma!!!

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

As far as burning bridges, you have to weight the long term consequences of telling your manager to fuck off against the short term satisfaction gained from such a gesture ............If I were in your situation, in addition to your manager, I'd tell his wife and neighbor to fuck too.

Congrats on the job!
