There used to be regular ice racing all around this area: the Chain of Lakes in particular, and also at Lambs Farm in Libertyville. Since the climate's changed around here and we don't have serious winters like we used to, sanctioned/organized ice racing has ceased to exist locally. Promoters can't take the financial chance on lakes not being frozen deep enough to run races, so the sport has moved north- WAY north (Lake Koshkonong, WI) and Michigan. In other words, be prepared to drive 4-6 hours one way. The one guy who still does it and would be able to give you full details is Dan Schmitt of Team Chicago. http://www.teamchicago.com

LOL. That's what I was thinking Rob.

If you have friends with 50's they are a friggin blast on the ice, but only if that's what everyone is riding. From there XR100's and TTR 125 are the hot ticket for cheap weekend fun with friends.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.
