Changes to Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of April. Time reverts to standard time at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October.

During DST, clocks are turned forward an hour, effectively moving an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.

Date change in 2007

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday of March, and end the first Sunday of November. Note that the Secretary shall report to Congress on the impact of this change. Congress retains the right to revert the Daylight Saving Time back to the 2005 time schedules once the Department study is complete.

That's gonna take some getting used to....have fun reprogramming the clocks on all those computers especially all those people that don't upgrade their OSes in a timely fashion

Ok this whole thing pisses me off, Lets just get rid fo the time change all together. Leave us on summer time year round. We dont need extra lite in the morning. we are all just going to work or school anyways at that hour. leave the extra lite in the aternoon so kids can play an we can actually see what our homes look like in day lite for the winter season, I hate coming home in the dark during the winter.

Poor Indiana. It took them them how long just to accept DST...I wonder how long it will take them to adjust to the new dates for DST?

And dont even get me started on leap year.

Was'nt daylight savings time originally for farmers? To give them an extra hour of daylight to harvest crops? If so think about it.....How does a clock assist in giving an hour of daylight when a farmer truly knows no time when harvesting??

I agree to leave it on DST!

Personally I like leaving work before the sun goes down. I think that is depressing. I like experiencing more of the daytime. I think daylight savings is a good thing.

Canada does it too, switch back and forth, and now they are pissed because to do business with their American cousins, they have to adopt the same system. Bush just pissed off 26 million Canadians. I would step up border patrols, I think Canada is going to romp down to thw White House, like they did in 1812 and burn it down to the ground this time

Indiana (except for a few cities near Chicago and near Louisville) doesn't accept DST. Neither does Arizona or Hawaii. If anyone hates DST, you can move to one of those three states.

Edit: I see what you're talking about: "On April 29, 2005, the Indiana legislature voted to begin observing daylight-saving time in 2006."

Indiana - sheesh, they don't even know what time it is... but that is getting fixed. Starting April 2nd next year, it will cost you and hour to step over the line from Illinois to Indiana.

Here is the info:

On April 2, 2006, Indiana will no longer be counted as one of three states which do not Spring ahead from "standard" to "daylight saving" time or Fall back from daylight to standard six months later. On Thursday, April 28, 2005, The Indiana Legislature voted to approve Daylight Saving Time for Indiana and to petition the US Department of Transporation to hold hearings to determine the location of the dividing line between the Eastern and Central time zones, relative to Indiana.

Complete stroy is located at http://www.mccsc.edu/time.html

I am with Tony, screw this crap. Get me up in the dark, that is fine, gives me more play time when I get home year round.

Gotta love it.

If you use the Indiana time zone setting on Outlook and/or Windows in general, I don't believe Microsoft has created a patch to automatically adjust for DST, so Indiana users need to switch to the regular eastern or central time zone depending on their county:

Our time is based on weather conditions. Thunderstorms and 45 degrees, that's 5:00AM. 65 and clear, that's 2:00PM.
