Dealership people some help please...

Schaumburg honda is telling me there's a new law that states 7% sales tax on any "offroad" vehicle purchased by an out of state party. Is this correct or are they blowing smoke up my ass?

If this is true I guess that sucks. No getting around tax on a 50 with an out of state address anymore

Sounds fishy to me. Call other dealerships and ask?

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

can't they get screwed by collecting money for "taxes" and then not paying them? if they screw you over, you could return the favor by tipping off the state...

News to me. Tax rate as far as I know and use is -
IL tax is 7% (cook county is 7.75%, city of chicago 8.75%),
IN tax is 6% and
WI is tax-exempt.

I bought a JR50 from them a few yrs back, never paid tax. Nielsen's said they collected tax because they were so close to the border....which is BS on off road stuff because you don't title off road vehicles in WI.
