Apple Orchard Recommendations

Anybody know of some good spots for picking apples this Fall? I inadvertently stopped by Apple Holler (sp?) in/near Kenosha, WI a few weeks ago and forgot how much fun this was (this place was good but a bit too crowded and a bit overpriced IMO...and I'd like to try someplace new). Actually, I didn't get to pick from the trees b/c of the torrential downpour that day but did snag some pre-picks and some oh so tasty sugar donuts

I'm planning on going one of these weekends in the next few weeks. I prefer locations closer to Chicago than not but am open to all reasonable suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

***Hans***

I remember Bell's from when I was a youngster...great place! Too bad they're not around anymore.

How you found us: dont recall

I was at Apple Holler about 2 weeks ago. Went mid week / I live about 20 minutes from there- and had the place to ourselves. $25 for a 1/2 bushel of apples - pick your own,
Then ate at the restaurant and to my surprise it was one of the best meals Ive had in a long time. A very very relaxing night with the family
This may or may not surprise you but I dont think youre going to find many orchards hear the city

Somebody else today was telling me about the restaurant at Apple Holler too...I might have to give that a try

And no, I don't expect to find any orchards in the city but some that are within a reasonable drive from Chicago (say 1 - 3 hours) as opposed to going to the state of Washington (you get the idea).
