Old MS-DOS games on WIN XP

Okay, the video game thread got me thinking about the older (way old) games for PC I've got sitting around. I didn't want to jack that thread, so here's the problem.

DOOM, DOOM2, Space Quest V (damn, funny) that I haven't played in YEARS that I wouldn't mind playing again. Only problem is..they are ancient, MS-DOS games. Buddy of mine said I should just get a cheapo hard drive, put it in, load DOS on it with a startup option to go to dos or XP. Are there any other options? Can you boot off a memory stick? Crap, 50 Megs could load all these up.

Depending on your motherboard and BIOS you can boot DOS off a memroy stick. I have a 1GB stick I boot to MSDOS for using with GHOST. I guess I could load MK3 on there

Agreed. Get a USB JumpDrive and load it with DOS. You'll be able to boot off the USB device with newer PCs.

Better yet, google for 'DOSBox'

I've been working all day with setting up Virtual PC and Virtual Server test environments at home for my current client, so I may have more info for ya and my research continues....

More Rep for Shadrach I used DOSBox...seems pretty good so far. Playing DOOM episode 1..argh.

I tried using just Windows XP..no cool music

Also, found http://www.dosgames.com . Great for trial Duke Nukem 3D and Descent.
