Flexible Spending Account

I have $750 bucks left on my flexible spending account.
As may know, it's a use-it or lose-it deal, so I'm offering a discount.
The closer to DEC31, the bigger the discount.

Does anyone have a need for OTC drugs (allergy, could, flu, cough, Tylenol)?
Ace bandages, braces, etc.

PM me.

We actually very, very good insurance.
They pay for pretty much everything.
I am going to look into Acupuncture, though.

actually in the past since I hardly ever go to the doctor or buy meds I've never bothered with setting up funds for FSA. I always thought that the paperwork for getting reimbursements would be a hassle. Now that I'm searching high & low for allocating pre-tax dollars and doing more with my money, I was wondering how much do people allocate on an annual basis for their FSA account? I see the Max is $3500, but being single, I just can't see myself coming anywhere close to using that much up. What do you allocate for your fund? doesn't matter if you're single or married, just indicate so with your answer.

thx

Not too sure about what exactly is covered but my fiance is using it for her braces. I think it's mainly to help with that sorta stuff. Most dental plans only cover $1000 max per year. I have $4400 that I have to pay out of pocket that an FSA plan would come in handy for. I wonder if Lasix(sp?) is covered.

just spoke to the dentist about that. it's cosmetic so FSA won't cover that procedure.

so the question still remains...what the hell do people allocate for their FSA? I can only think about 200-300 bucks for prescription allergy meds, dental & eye exams, glasses/contacts for co-pays & deductible

I think it's designed more for those who have a lot of out of pocket expenses, instead of the average Joe(or Ernie). It's a great help for people who need a lot of meds that's not covered. The ironic part is most companies that offer an FSA, also have a good heath care/dental plan.

You are thinking of HSA's, (Health Savings Accounts) allow carryovers but typically only High Deductible plans are allowed to sponsor HSA's. The good thing is you generally do not forfeit any of your contributions because of the carryover provision. Furthermore, instead your contributions sitting in a non interest bearing account, your contributions can be invested into mutual fund type investments. My Co. offers an HSA program and JP Morgan investments are the only investments we can invest in.

You might want to check with your employer. New law change allows an employer to amned current plan to allow for expenses incurred in 1st 3 months of year to be applied to prior years fsa.
NOTE: this is availalbe to employers as a option, this is not a requirement.. I don't actually know a whole lot taking advantage of it.
