Missing person help

One of the girls I work with her son is missing and has been since Sunday. She filed a police report and I said try calling her cell phone company since his cell phone is in her name to see if any activity been on it in the last few days, will they let her know?
If anyone can give ideas it would be great. He left his house and kissed his mom good bye to see friends. No one has heard anything since Sunday night. I feel bad for her. This son is the nicest one, he always calls his mom here at work just to say hi.
Again any suggestions will be helpful.

Legally since the cellphone is in her name, the company must disclose any recent activity on the phone. Also, If her provider is one of the more techno-savvy ones, they may have online ways to look at the phone activity, i know verizon does. In fact, some phones are equipped with a GPS device, such that when you are in a populated area they can use towers to figure out what part of a county, city, etc you are in. How specific just depends on how many company towers there are locally, and the GPS capability depends on how new the phone is.....

I hate to state the obvious, but check with all of his friends, his work, any of his favorite hangouts etc, and see when the last time someone saw him was, who he was with etc.....

I would defintly try to see if they can track his phone first thing. even if the phone isnt with him it might lead you to some clues as far as fingerprints go etc if you can find it.

I would assume they are talking to all his friends etc. there has to be a timeline of who has seen him last and so on, keep walking down that timeline and you will get closer.

How old is the son?

Also, since kids use computers to chat so much, checking his email account's Sent Items might lend a clue to if he was planning to meet anyone, or runaway, or if some prior issue lead to his disappearance.

+2 thats a damn good idea.

Jimmy Considering where you work I'm guessing I know what internet service proider this person has, your tech guys there in the head end should be able to track down all of his accounts.

Also idf theres a way to look up his chat logs that would be a good thing, but not sure if that can be done.

He's 22 yrs old and we called his cell company and 1 call was made out yesterday. His mom called the number and they said they haven't heard from him since Saturday.
He has a 2005 black Nissan Centra (I'm not sure if that's spelled right) Do this type of car have any kind of GPS? Thanks for the help. If any other ideas let me know.

The Nissan Sentra is a compact sedan car. Typically it does not come with a GPS system example being something like On-Star.

Someone who knows more correct me if im wrong, but i BELEIVE that something as new as a 2005 Sentra would maybe have an updated version for anti-theft, kinda like the lo-jack system, for tracking..... just throwing that out there...

On Edit: I just looked it up, no active tracking, just passive immobilizer, and alarm on that car. Sorry

As far as the cell phone goes they can track it if it GPS enabled. Now ANY cell phone as long as its not cdma can be found. I believe it has to be GSM. If so they can do something called "Snapshot" and find the phone. We used to do that little trick "awhile" ago in foreign countries to locate people. Not sure if its LEGAL in the US but its a shot.

Hope he is just being inconsiderate rather than the unthinkable.

All gsm phones can be tracked via gps, thanks to the Patriot Act.

How do you look for someone to see if they have a GPS on the phone, is there a website ot something? I'll try and find out what type he had to see if it has a GPS system on it. She is calling hospitals now also.

Have her call the cell co again, if it's a recent phone they may be able to tell her where it's at. I know it can be done with nextel, we have them for our drivers and salesmen, but I've never tracked anybody on it. I know that when you are tracking them they can tell also.

Better yet, give all the cell phone info along with a letter of authorization to the police so they can track the account, and possible the GPS.

If he has I-Pass as well, you may be able to get them to let you know the last toll booth he went through using it. It may help to narrow down which direction the car was heading.

OR if the I-Pass happens to be in her name since the cellphone is, you can go to www.getipass.com and using the trasponder number or account number, you can sign up for a PIN, and see what toll booths have been gone through recently......

Man its amazing how many different ways we can be tracked.

Also if you can find a time and location where the car was recorded you could start going through traffic camera footage and follow the car.

Oh course I dont know if the police are that up to speed with CSI Miami.

Yeah, if you stop at just about any business, gas station or fast food place, they have a camera on you, they aren't nearly as expensive to set up know like they were in the past, so just about everyone has them.

He came home. The friend that he was at moved and it was a different phone number. THe thing that gets me, he could have called his mom back because you know he got the messages (plus a message from a cop). He also didn't call into work either from the sounds of it because his mom called in saying he was gone.
He called his mom at work and I heard her say:
"are you alright?"
"good, don't talk to me ever again"
Thank you everyone. This lady at work will bend over backwards for you in a heart beat. She always get's people stuff for their b-day, and it sounds like she just makes ends meet but she'll give you money if you forgot your lunch.
THANKS GUY!!!! You are true friends

Maybe he's more responsible than you, PJ.

What an ass for letting his mom worry like that. At least he's okay, though.
