So who is planning on trying to pick up one of these units either tonight or tomorrow morning? Anyone know which places are opening at midnight around chicago? I would love to pick up a unit and then resell it a day or two before xmas for some extra cash

Loki has to work midnight in some game stop shop, because people will pick up there preorder xboxes. This new xbox is off the hook.
Graphics are awesome, but I still prefer computer. Aiming using game pad in FPS games is a pain in the ass.

The Aurora Best Buy is supposed to be opened. I am picking mine up at EB Games.... Post up if you get yours, so I can whoop your as$ on-line....

You may want to sell your existing Xbox on ebay and any games you don't play anymore. I got $170 for mine with six games, hd kit and 2nd remote. It will suppliment some of the $500+ I am going to spend tonight.. Toys cost $$$$$$$$$$$

i am looking forward to this thing as well but i have heard some major downsides.

there are 2 versions you can buy. the $299 basic version and the $399 loaded version.

if you want to play original xbox games you will not be able to do that on the $299 version.

Games are slightly more expensive and are very few out right now.

The xbox has such good graffics that it is intended for HDTVs with good surround sound systems. It will make normal TVs look like shit apparently and is getting a reputation that this system will drive HDTV sales.

Last but not least, if you want the full experience with the backwards compatabile system, wireless capabilities, and internet capability for xbox live you are close to $700 easy already. that is before any games are bought.

just an FYI from what i have read. I will wait till the PS3 is coming out and the xbox system will drop in price significantly.

360 causes 180's @ door if not reserved

Hey guys, this was already discussed. But just to let you know, if you didn't reserve an XBox 360 almost 2 months ago, good luck trying to get one lying around or "extra".

Plus, the shipments for the U.S. were cut in half. Meaning a high number is still coming but it's really a marketing trip what's going on. There is tonight's opening (reserve only for us) for a lot of places and then it's special info on other dates I can't discuss in the open (I know, silly but I must respect my boss who is my boy).

Still, if you get one, there was some gaming god looking down on you. Other than that, you'll get it in January '06.

P.S. Changes can and do happen with shipments.

You are wrong on the $700 part.. You get the hd kit, wireless remote and hard drive with the $399 deluxe system which is backwards compatable. You also get a free intro to live if you are a new to it. Games are up there at $59 right now. PS3 will not be any cheaper, I would own both!!

Yes, will kind of. I work with the wife of the district manager for a game store. He was able to reserve one for me for the launch . They said they are out until January/Feb right now. My friend bought one on ebay for a $150 premium???

Good points in the article but they are picking it apart a little. You will have the same issues with PS3 if you don't already have a hd t.v. The hd kit is one of the main reasons I purchased Xbox in the first place. I would suggest if you are going to buy one, pony up the extra $100 for the deluxe. Most current xbox users would anyways.

All you need to do is see some of the demo's at best buy or on the web to convince yourself. I went though this same thought process and thought I should wait for PS3. Then I saw a few demos of it...

What are the going to sell Ps3 for anyways... I heard $500

I'm going to wait for the PS3, myself. Of course, that will be easier said then done when Halo 3 comes out for the 360.

Especially since your avatar, though Star Wars, looks a little like someone from Halo.

My 2cc's

For me though guys, I'll stick to pc games. I know the selection isn't as huge with games but these consoles are basically computers. And all they do is play games and ok, movies. E verything else about them is pc based. They now have keyboards, multiplayers, mics. All to just be shown on your um, television. You can't upgrade them. Maybe in the future it'll change. I mean you can change hard drives in them now. Yet to keep up with the times you're looking at 400 a pop. At least with pc's you don't have to buy the newest latest to run great games

I understand that it's fun and the graphics are wonderful. PC's have been producing incredible graphics for a super long time. And before the HDTV stuff, it looked better on a monitor (for most it still does because your average joe can't afford an HDTV). Yet don't get me wrong. I'm a gamer. All games are sweet. Hell, I'm from the Atari days. I'm used to pixeled looks. It was tough holding a block with a stick and red button when you were a kid (in my old man voice - "We didn't have pause in our day! You had to finish a level and then make sure nobody hit that red button while you went to the bathroom!")

So, let's all have fun with the new generation of consoles. My prediction though is that we'll all be the same to one point or another and before we all have that old man's voice too!

I hope it will support a mouse since it comes with usb ports. Either way I'm getting one for my boy's birthday and it will be the wireless one. Call of duty looks awesome with it.

Played Project Gotham on the 360 display at Best buy here saturday. Lets just say I dont see what the hype on this system is. I swear people are just complete morons nowadays. Ohhh gotta have the "latest and over hyped thing now before teh neighbours get one". Not just happening with game systems, but wait until the Pontiac Solstice hits the showrooms here. Any bets on how much thw dealers add to the price as a "dealer markup"?

Yeah, I wasn't impressed at all!!!! It looked like PC games. I'm guessing that once XBox comes out with it's own titles more maybe things will get better. Regardless though, it's more hype to me too. Almost everything I've seen so far I've seen in a pc game. Shadow effects, movement, dynamics and physics.

Nope, not impressed at all. (XBox 360)

I'm waiting for PS3, and even then, waiting until Metal Gear Solid 4 hits the shelves at the earliest. I probably won't upgrade until there is a serious slowing of good games coming out for PS2. That probably won't happen until mid summer, the user base for both XBox and PS2 is just too big for companies NOT to keep putting quality product out for them.

Hell, most of the time I wait until the games I want are greatest hits (or at least had a price drop) before I buy it. Not that I'm cheap (well, kind of), it's jsut that I have at least 10 other games I need to finish up first.

Initial XBox Review

Well I picked up my Xbox last night. EB made it easy as it was only a 15 minute process. Across the street at Target fools were outside in full camping gear. I said to someone at EB, they only have a few minutes more to go. He said, "Target opens at 8 am tomorrow." That's crazy shi!!!. Half the guys there were flipping them on Ebay for a quick $200 profit. I also picked up Madden, Call Of Duty and Tiger, 2nd wireless controller.... Can you say $700???

I get the thing home and here are some interesting notes. The Box was heavy as fuc$... The deluxe Xbox is heavy itself but I figured out how they saved some space. The ac adapter or whatever it is that goes between the outlet and Xbox is fricken huge!!!! It must be 10 inches long by 3X3!!!

I also felt the HD cables were kind of cheap, look good but I think I had the monster kit on my last one.

I have to say I am really dissapointed in Madden. Graphics looked great but they sacrificed gameplay and features. It's such a different game than the previous 06'. Strange thing, Madden does not even announce on this one.

Tiger looked awesome. Good game play. Call Of Duty, two thumbs up. The HD on these games looks better than the original. Surround sound in Call Of Duty is great.

Best feature so far is the wireless remotes. Power your remote, the Xbox powers on. Power your remote down, the Xbox also powers down. Plus you can down load MP3's and play them during any game.

Is it worth 600 - $700.. Time will tell. I thought about flipping it on Ebay, I should have reserved two... Halo 3 better kick as$...
