Optimus_P still in Iraq, doing fine

Hello and happy thanksgiving all.

I think people remember Mike, aka, Optimus_P, right? Unless he's already posted here (I didn't search), he's still in Iraq with the 2-325 of the 82nd Airborne. He gets paid by the army to kick down doors with an M4 and storm buildings, then drive around in Humvees looking for more doors. He's also doing well - there are apparently some hilarious stories but can't say anything about them right now. He'll be back in a couple months he said, but the place is starting to drive him, "batty" in his own words.

True definition of irony: he plays the video game Battlefield 2 with his squadmates.

Anyway people, have a happy thanksgiving.

Life's Journey Is Not To Arrive At The Grave Safely In A Well Preserved Body, But Rather To Skid In Sideways, Totally Worn Out, Shouting "HOLY SHIT... What A Ride!"

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

I'll ask him about an email, but he's never on a computer. When he is on one, it's always a haji one, so he can't say anything interesting at all other than hi and goodbye. His unit moves around undisclosed all the time, as part of the package sent over to beef up forces during the election over there.

I will let him know about everyone back at CLSB saying hello. If he says he can email, I'll let you's know.

Computer access out there is sketchy. Some have access often, some don't. I have a couple buddies over there now (three counting Mike). One gets email access once every couple weeks, but I haven't heard anything from the other. They have to be at a fairly established location to get internet access. All of us in the army have email addresses but if he can't check it, does no good to send it.

to him! Can't wait till he (and they all) get back!

That's good to hear!

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

That's great he's doing well. Next time you talk to him tell him I'm buying him a drink when he gets back. Thanks for your service, Mike.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!
