You guys think its safe? I found what looks ot be a safe outfit to order one online that is about a thousand bones cheaper then at stores around here.

Is it risky?

Just make sure they are willing to trade out any plasma you get (on their shipping dime) if there is any imperfections in the display. Unlike a CRT where you can adjust the guns and convergence, the newer tech doesn't allow this and you are screwed if it's messed up. So make sure they'll take it back due to picture imperfections.

i wouldnt bother ordering a consumer model online, you wont save much. Just haggle them down at ABT. Commercial models on the other hand, order away.

I ordered my consumer model online and it was $700 cheaper than in the stores. I had no problems. I would go to cnet.com and use a company with a 5 star rating. The company I used had a 5 star rating when I bought it, but are only a 3 star now, so I wouldn't recommend them.

where is ABT? excuse my ignorance. i looked on the plasmadepot.com and there prices are real good compared to like Circuit city or best buy. You just have to pay lik 2 or 300 for shipping.
I just don't want a scratched up tv or something delivered to my home for me to deal with.

When I bought my TV, I actually got a better deal from Tweeter than online. Just in case anyone does not know, you can haggle with Tweeter and Abt.

When you are spending thousands, don't be afraid to ask for their best price and negotiate free shipping if it is not already included. I was able to save a few hundred off the advertised sale price on the TV and cherry wood stand. In addition I got free shipping and setup.

Give the Tweeter in Oak Brook a call if the other stores don't cut you a deal. Ask for Kevin Kosluv, tell him Mao referred you. Kevin gave me a really nice deal on my TV and stand.
