when you live in an apartment its easier to hold out, you're mooching heat off shared walls from your neighbors.

I set mine at 65....and locked it with a code. Everyone whined for all of 2 minutes, then put on sweaters and house slippers. Even Jammin learned, when he came over yesterday he was wearing a sweater. Plus when I start a fire, the family room goes up to 71, got love free firewood At night to keep the wifey happy, he had an electrical blanket, that we never used, well we are using it now

I live on the 7th floor of a condo building so the heat from my neighbors is usually enough to keep my place warm. I turn my heat on about twice a year.....on the other side I have to run a lot of Air Conditioning in the summer.

I haven't turned mine on yet. When it is sunny my condo will warm up 9 degrees just by having the shades open since I face the south. My place have never dipped below 67 degrees.

Good to finally hear that I am not the only cheap ass I need to figureout how to put a lock code on my thermostat. My friends always turn it up when they come over and I am not looking. I tell them they just need to bring some sweatshirts or get under a blanket. I have blanket all on the couch so there is no reason to turn the heat up!!. I just layer up

Fock that! I didn't walk across mine fields and fly across an ocean to skimp out on a basic necessity such as heat. I set my thermostat at 75 degrees and in the living room I use a space heater to help heatup the 20' room.

Everyone, just be careful about keeping the house warm enough, the living room may be warm but if you have pipes on an outside wall you may have frozen pipes which could burst and you will negate all your savings in the long run, so please be careful.

WTF, I keep the heat at about 70 when home and 65 when not. My gas bill was very high last month but very high for me is $120.00, what do you consider high? I'm not going to freeze ass to save $20/ month but I'm not heating a big ass house either.

My bill is only 25-30 a month all yr long for heating and cooling. All we pay is the electric for the blower. I want to get a house, but I worried I wonít be able to heat it with the gas price it is now. My wife has arthritis and the cold isnít the best for it, so we need it at lease 72-74 in the house.
Hey Tony, I wonder how much it is to heat the house in Downers. With those messed up windows and that dinosaur heating system it must be a fortune to heat it.

Yes it was, I was getting $150 bills and that was 5 years ago, there was no insulation in the walls either as it was built in the 50's

My wife keeps it at 69. If I had my way, it would be at 72. Our bill last month in the new house was "only" $98. Very reasonable to me. In my old house, which was twice as small and twice as old, my bills were $120-130 a month.

Last year my gf wanted the temp at 75, I said 70 so we comprimised on 73. This year I've got her down to 68. By next year I'm hoping she'll be comfortable in 64 so my heating bill is low.

Well, my gas bill isn't too high. I think it was $38 last month.
