Please say a little pray for my baby tonight....

Arai (my maltese) is currently in the doggy hospital. She has something wedged in her stomach that is not allowing her to digest any food. While Jeff and I were in Hawaii and she was at my moms house, I thought she was just home sick and that is why she wasn't eating. This morning she was horrible, she couldn't walk or do anything...So I took her to the vet this morning, and they hooked her up on an IV to get some nutrients.. etc in her. They have to do surgery tomorrow morning to get whatever it is out of her stomach. She's in critical condition, and I'm going to visit her tonight before surgery tomorrow morning.....The whole thing is going to run me about 1500.00, I have no idea how I'm going to pay for this, but they are allowing me to pay half now and half when I pick her up, which will be in 5 days. I just hope she'll be okay tomorrow, they really don't know what will happen tomorrow. They said there is a 50-50 chance.....This couldn't come at a worse time, after our rather expensive trip to HI and christmas, but if she doesn't get surgery tomorrow morning, she probably wouldn't make it another day.....Please just say a little prayer for my baby girl....She means so much to me...

sorry to hear about that krystal...hopefully everything will be ok...shes not a puppy is she?...cause if she is, and you gave her those rawhides, they actually expand in the dogs stomachs...and you never feed those to puppy's as they dont know when to stop eating them...im sure everything will be ok...dogs are like kids...they come back from the brink of everything...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I just got home from the vet and it's actually worse then I thought, so it turns out it's nothing she ate....The stupid receptionist didn't know what she was talking about....It's actually an intestine problem...The way that the vet explained is intestines are kinda like the old school telescopes that you would push into each other to make them smaller, and what happens with what she has is instead of the intestines going into each other her's went over each other. What happens when that happens is sometimes if untreated for a while the intestines start to rott. The vet said that her vomit is very rotten smelling....which could be a sign that it has rotted (god I hope not) what he will do is going in there and pull the intestines out of each other or cut it if it's rotted and re tie it together. If the intestines are rotted she might not make it, because cutting and re tying it causing the dogs body a lot of shock. The vet said she is very sick and doesn't know what will happen tomorrow morning. I just hope for the best. I'm sure I'll be up all night worrying and I'll be a nervous wreck tomorrow.....Let's hope for the best

I'm prayin for ya, I understand where you are. My Min Pin had the same problem and she made it through just fine. She was really weak and pretty tired and sickly for awhile. Mommy did alot of carrying her around but shes now just like she used to be, maybe a little bit slower. Best wishes and prayers!

Absolutely, prayers and best wishes, also consolation. My former neighbor's dog ate a pair of stockings, lost half his intestines and lived to be almost 16 years old.

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard..."

*Update*

So this morning she woke up and she passed some kinda weird ball of some type of synthetic fiber...hair, possibly carpet...not really sure. So the vet thought she wouldn't need surgery, and thought with enough fluids it would pass itself.

WELL at about 3pm she went into surgery, she was getting weaker and wasn't keeping her fluids down, she kept vomiting. The vet was very scared if he let her try and pass it on her own that she wouldn't make it through tonight, but he was very scared to do surgery because she is very emaciated, since she hasn't eatin in about a week. Since this vet has been around for about 30 years, I trusted his decision to go ahead with the surgery.

She came out of surgery and she is still with us, and she is being a tough little fighter, all 2 lbs of her right now are holding on (she's normally 4 lbs but she has lost half her weight) It is so much harder with smaller dogs because there isn't much to work with. The vet said that the wad of whatever it is was 5 times as big as what she passed this morning. He said it damaged 2 sections of her intestines, however he stitched it up, and is keeping a close watch over her. We'll see how tonight goes. The vet isn't sure what will happen, he's just hoping that her body doesn't go into any type of shock from the shock of the intestines having to be opened up. The vet has been napping at the office just so he can keep a close eye on her. My grandparents use to take their dogs to him about 30 years ago, so he knows the family.

Thank you everyone for the kind words, please still keep her in your thoughts, and let's hope or pray for the best!

KJ
