Today we raced at Daytona!

We went up to Gurnee Mills today and stopped in the Nascar store. And raced in the simulators! I ended up finishing 12th, with a best lap time of 47.937 seconds, and reached a top speed of 191 mph. By the 2nd lap, it was GAME ON, BABY - the adrenaline was pumping and it was full-on "race mode".

You race against other real and "virtual" competitors. Cost $7.50 for a 7-lap race. You can buy packages. No road courses for newbies tho.

I can't wait to go back. Cheap thrills!!!!

How you found us: Ken offered me money to join.

Fun isnt it? I did something similar at Gameworks one year. Amazing how people try to run you into the wall when you try to pass them.

Ricky wants to know if Kimmie wore her leathers and helmet to make it more realistic

Kimmie is glad there were no children in the cars on either side of her.

I went to the Battletech center once... that was quite fun. Blowing the crap out of people in virtual mechs... Of course this was long before the internet was popular for multiplayer games and lan parties were only just beginning.

How does this compare to the setup at Gameworks? Similar cars, motions, etc?

Why didn't you call me?

I've never been to Gameworks, so I don't know. Supposedly the cars are set up to duplicate the handling, etc. of a 750-hp Nextel Cup car (only not nearly as noisy, and I suspect the clutch is "lighter" than the real thing). We'll definitely be going again.
