What is a Poker Run?

Quick question. I've seen the phrase. Hell I think I've even been on or lead a few of these, but I'm not sure. What is a Poker Run?

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Bunch o drunk arsed harley riders set up a route and go to a half dozen bars or so... At each bar they are given a random playing card. (And they usually have another beer or two)... Then they hop on their oil leakers and head to the next bar. At the end of the route they all compare "hands" and whoever has the best poker hand wins.

Or that's my skewed view anyway.

Actually Jon the easiest way to describe it is (i believe) you get 5 (or more)bars in 5 (or more) different locations and have someone at the bar with a deck of cards. You pick one and eventually ride to the next one and draw another card. (get it --poker hand) continueing on and if there are more than 5 bars you would discard etc....

The last bar is where everyone meets and the best hand wins!

Yeah, then we get drunk outta our minds and go around raping and pillaging for days on end. Nuthin' like a good Poker Run to cleanse the soul.

5 cards. One at each stop(note: Isn't always a bar, but mostly it is.) Usually about a 100 mile route. Kinda fun traveling lazily in such a large group. Get to the last stop and prizes are given for the best poker hands. A lotta 50/50 is played, bands are heard, raffles are held and a BIG bunch of money is given to some deserving charity. And yes, some beer is had. We're all adults and should be individually held responsible for our actions. Illinois is a .08 state.

Correct. most of the time a portion of the procededs go to a local charity or special cause. and not everyone drinks on them, but dont but yes some of the riders tend to enjoy the bars a little too much on the ride. Some never make it past the first bar which is why they make you pay up at the beginning.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

At the one camp ground we go too we use gold carts, now that's FUN. Nothing like drunk guys driving around in gold carts.
