Reality TV

I have been wondering this for a little while now.

Has anyone here thought seriously about or actually applied for a reality show?

I have seriously thought about applying for Amazing Race or Survivor.

I think the only thing holding me back is that I am not totally comfortable with taking two months off from work to do one of these.

Anyone else?

Yeah I always think about this every year, I am a reality TV crackhead . I thought about Survivor until I saw Guatamala this year, everyone was puking their guts out for the first three days, and the mosquitos were fierce to say the least. I couldn't handle a place like that. I have also thought about Amazing Race, but I need to find a worthy partner. If I go, I want to have the best chance of winning. I suck at navigation, if I find someone who is good at it, I might give the show a go.

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

Amazing Race fan here. See places you'll probably never see. Your not quarentined off from interaction with people. This is the one I'd pick.

Hawkeye are you married?
Do you have kids?

If you don't have kids or commitments other than work (huge bills to pay) I'd be considering it. Even if you get kicked off, you still get one nice vacation!
And some pocket change.

You will work for the rest of your life. If an opportunity presents itself, grab it.

I know Abe from Road Rules Mexico... He's the one that got his ass kicked by the black girl... then got her thrown off the show for hitting him.

He was never all that smart.

Patrick (Underdog) applied for Around the World in 40 Dates

They did a casting in Chicago about 1.5yrs ago. I wasn't going to do it until they told me what the show was (and I'm serious):

ONE dude.

Fly to NYC and meet 20 chicks. Spend the weekend, pick 10.
Fly in private pimp jet to Paris. Dump 5 chicks, pick 5 new French ones.

Spend the weekend in Paris, then fly to Spain, pick up 5 new Spanish broads etc. etc. Rinse and repeat.

Go to 20 cities (2 dates per city - get it?) around the world over 2months, then come back to LA and pick the chick that gives the best hummers to split the $$ with.

I made to the 3rd of 4 rounds.

I take some comfort in the fact that the show never aired.

i realize there are plenty of hard aspects to survivor. i think i have a huge advantage though. for those who have met me, you know i am a skinny guy. i like to eat, but i dont realistically eat that much. I can function extremely well when deprived of food, rest, and comfort.

i am extremely aggressive in my competitive nature and athletic. i would love to do survivor.

on the flip side, i am an avid fan of traveling. i consider myself to be highly adaptive, intelligent, creative and have a knack for navigation. i do have a buddy who would be perfect for amazing race. he and i are both ends of the scale. when we get along it is perfect but he and i also clash like nothing else. that would make great tv.

the downsides are my job and the fact i am married. my wife would actually let me do either show if i made it and wanted to so i guess that isnt a drawback. the only major drawback is my job. I am in sales and disappearing for 2 months wouldnt bode to well with my company.

It's tough to get on if you don't know someone.

My friend came in 2nd on the first season of The Apprentice...he was never actually fired...rather Bill Rancic was hired

Actually, 2nd place is sometimes better than 1st sometimes. He didn't get locked into Trumpdom but received just about the same notoriety that Bill did so he went with that and started his own company w/ 2 other guys I went to school with and they recently closed a deal on a large real estate project on the East Coast within a year of the finale (somewhere in Maryland I think).

PS. He rides too A couple of years ago, he was riding a '00 ZX7R but he's since gotten rid of it.

I have thought about it, but I am a totally non-competitive person. I have a lot of the skills for these things, but I don't have the cajones to be conniving and beat the other contestants.

A friend of mine won Fear Factor once and after hearing him describe it I knew I could never ever ever do that show. I would be good as Martha Stewart's Apprentice but, again, I am just not cutthroat and camera hungry enough to elbow people for the spotlight.

I don't think they are worth it. They make an ass out of you on TV and that's what they live for. The more your life is ruined, the happier they are. It all depends on the show, but some make millions off of you and you get Absolutely nothing out of it besides yourself looking like an ass on TV. They ARE real besides a few things they add in, but they aren't as cool as you think they are.

A good friend of mine was on Elimidate. That show is 100% fake. Some of the guys are gay, many women are married already. The situations are scripted.
