where were you in 1957?

If you were in Tusla, OK your car might be ready in a little over a year!

http://www.forwardlook.net/19571958P.../countdown.asp

interesting little read.. in 1957 they buried a car to have it dug up 50 years later..

Cool interesting story. I love this line in the article. "Asked what type of maintenance was done on the time capsule, Rudd replied, We just cut the grass on top of it." I would hate to see them dig it up and find a completely rusted piece of metal. At least the person will be able to cash in on some of the items left in the car.

well if it didn't dry up and stayed on the car.. might not be too shabby.. except for all the bugs that got in there.

Must make me "too old".....I was 4 living in Rolling Meadows with Mom, Dad, and 2 sisters. Dad used me as his bird dog, pheasant hunting right off Central Road. It was a dirt road back then and Rt 53 was a 2 lane country road.
Elmers farm was at the corner of Central (dirt) Road and Rt 53. That year his holsteins gave birth to 3 calves while we watched.
Dad landed his new plane on RT 53 so we could bring it home to fix the holes in the wings from a near accident with a tree. He parked the fuselage between the house and garage with the wings in the garage being re-fabriced. Funny sight on Sunday mornings when he would go out and start the engine up. People from all around would drive by just to see the goof ball with a wingless plane.
Funny the things I remember.

I guess this officially makes me old as dirt. I was 6 yrs old and in first grade. Lived in an aprtment with mom and dad at 62nd & Hamlin across the alley from St. Nicholas school. Out the back gate and I was at school. I can still hear the church bells ring. Davy Crocket stuff was big for the kids that year.
