Question for the board

I am flying out of Midway in January to go to Orlando. I have never flown out of Midway. I was wondering if you knew of a good hotel in the area that I could stay at? I would also like a hotel that I could stay on a Saturday night and leave my car in their parking lot until the following Sunday. I haven't been in that area of Chicago enough to know the area so I am looking for suggestions. Thank you in advance.

There is a hotel that is hooked to TGI Fridays, they also provide a shuttle to MIDWAY...... Right on Cicero 5 minutes from Midway.......

I don't know if any hotel will allow you to leave your car in their lot for an entire week. You'll probably have to just pay for parking at the airport, so any hotel in the area will do.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Fridays is connected to The Courtyard by Marriot http://bedfordpark.myfridays.com/5231.html
Friday's Chicago Midway
6600 S. CICERO AVE.
BEDFORD PARK, IL 60638
Tel (708) 594-0777
Fax (708) 728-2843

Driving Directions:

Located just two blocks south of Chicago's Midway Airport in the Midway Hotel Center.

On the map below it looks like we are located the east side of Cicero Ave., that would put us in Chicago. But we're really on the west side of Cicero Ave. in Bedford Park.

Whether you're driving north or south on Cicero Ave, whether you're in Chicago or Bedford Park, just look for the giant "Midway Hotel Center" signs and drive on in. Fridays is connected to The Courtyard by Marriot.

Has onsite parking for a fee (Listed on website)

Anybody know if the Doubletree hotel in Alsip is any good? I see they will let you stay there for up to 2 weeks parking and they have a shuttle that takes you to the airport. It costs $129 for the night.

I would call and make sure you can leave your vehicle there for a week before booking a room. I am looking at their website and I don't see where it says they will allow you to leave your car after staying only 1 night.

I confirmed with Doubletree that parking is good for 7 days. It is a park, stay, and fly hotel. It is an extra $20 to leave your car for up to 14 days over a standard room.

Sounds like a good place to stay, then. I read reviews and people said it is in a nice safe and clean area. Just be sure to leave early enough for the airport. Some said it took over 30 minutes to drive the 10 miles.

I just don't want to be disappointed when I get there and then I don't have another option is all. I would trust the opinion of someone on here more than a review on the internet. I don't live close to Chicago and that is my problem.

Depends on time of day. As long as you aren't driving from 7:00AM - 10:00 AM, or 3:45PM - 6:45PM, you will be fine. Otherwise, give yourself some time. BTW, Chicago drivers can be real A-holes in rush hour.

There's an airport shuttle he'll be taking, so as long as he gives himself a good window to the airport he won't miss his flight.

Schiernbeck, I read about 8 reviews of the place and they all said its a very nice hotel. If no one else has any suggestions I think you've found a good place to stay and keep your car. It'll beat paying for airport parking.

I will have to get to the airport about 8ish in the morning. Our flight leaves at 10ish. This is why I have to stay overnight in Chicago because I would have to get up really early to make the drive down there and who knows what the weather will be like or how long it will take to drive down there on that particular day.

That is what I am thinking too. I will wait for another day or so to make the reservation maybe someone will come up with something better or give more people a chance to see this. Thank you for the help.

Nice looking place. Maybe you should throw a little CLSB shin-dig that night.

I'm almost certain that's the place I stayed at for work down there earlier this year. Not bad, but at the time 127th was completely tore up for construction.

I know we didn't pay $127 a night though..damn.

The Double tree is considerably farther south than you really want to be, I eat lunch at the Fridays at least one a week, it is in a plaza of hotels. These all are really nice, just redone as the Double tree states.

But these are all only blocks away from the airport and also have parking and a shuttle..... Seems as though you are staying there long so just for over night for the trip and then back to get car, check prices on the Marriott and go from there... I will go to lunch down that way Wednesday and get info on the others..... Traffic is a nightmare in that area always, even though you wont be driving it sucks..

It sometimes takes 45-1 hour to go from Midway to Harlem via 63rd or Cicero, 73rd Bedford Park... I work in that area......Will post more info for you later....

I would appreciate it. I am just looking for a hotel that is decent to stay in and a safe place to leave my car for a week in a parking lot. Thank you again.

There's a lot there for like $7 or $8 a day where I've never had any problems. It's just a bit northwest of the airport I believe...
