open house info

We are looking to buy a house around wheeling and wondering where we can find out about open houses? We do not have a realtor yet, we are waiting on finding one until after we get pre approved.

just would like to start looking on our own for now. do they list open houses in the paper or would I have to contact a realtor?

also have you guys had better luck with home loans through a bank or mortgage broker?

Josh

Usually on Sunday mornings here the local paper lists open houses. the other way would be thru a realtor. You may even be able to go online thru a realtor site and find listings.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

why wait to get a realtor? they get their commission from the seller of the property....

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/rate/mtg_home.asp to check for average rates (remember it's an average so some people will be higher and some will be lower)

mortgage brokers usually do more work and have better rates. banks are sorta stuffy and full of themselves and fairly inflexible on the rate they'll offer. I'd go to your bank as a last resort after you have a bunch of rate quotes from other sources.

I think there were some mortgage brokers on here ??? Maybe they'll see this and PM you

When I was looking, I went to www.ziprealty.com, and registered. You will have access to mls listings, the realtor will only contact you via email (at least mine did) and I told him I was just looking at MLS listings- then he never bothered me again. Any way, when you find a house youre interested in, there is a button to schedule a visit. Lots of realtors are getting away from open houses due to unqualified people walking through, and most open houses are properties they are having a hard time selling for whatever reason, the MLS listing show more properties. Most houses sell without ever having an open house. Be diligent and take your time, houses are added daily so dont get discouraged if you dont see anything nice in your price range, one will pop eventually, and realize that finding the right one is a stressful and long process.

"When in doubt, use full throttle. It may not improve your situation, but it will end the suspense."
