Schwarzenegger, son hurt in motorcycle wreck
Governor needs 15 stitches in lip

Sunday, January 8, 2006; Posted: 11:50 p.m. EST (04:50 GMT)

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his son, Patrick, received minor injuries Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident near their home, the governor's press secretary said in a written statement.

According to Margita Thompson, the governor received 15 stitches to repair a cut lip. Both he and his son also were treated for minor cuts and bruises, and were released from St. John's Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

"The accident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. when another driver backed into a street in front of Governor Schwarzenegger as he rode his Harley-Davidson motorcycle," Thompson said. "The governor was unable to avoid the vehicle in his path and collided with it at a low speed."

Patrick, 12, was a passenger in the motorcycle's sidecar. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

"The governor is expected to keep previously scheduled appointments" on Monday, Thompson said.

Im curious how his son faired in the Sidecar, Ive never heard of a bike accident with a side car or I should say Ive never heard results from a sidecar accident.

I for one would not want to ride in one.

This is gonna hurt!

Good buddy of mine got hit when he was on a Vulcan 2000 (those have those super duper HID lights too.) Same excuse, but Mat fared FAR worse than Arnold

That guy just got put on the DMV's 'BAD' list.

A hell of a way to "run into" a celebrity I'd say

The pessimist fears this to be true.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Sounds like he must of been wearing a half lid. That always freaks me out when thinking about crashing with one of those on. I imagine what "could" happen to your face if it where to contact the ground.....In Arnold's case, only 15 stiches to his lip. Probably due to the low speed of the accident.

I'd pay to see that guys reaction when he got out and saw Gov. Arnold, his 12 year old son, and his bike all laying on the ground

No M Class!!

Personally I think that he should set an example for good riding behavior and take the fine on this one. It would be nice.

NICE....from the article....."Schwarzenegger, a Harley Davidson owner who rides regularly with friends along the California coast, said Tuesday that he never bothered to obtain a California motorcycle license because he "never thought about it."

"I just never really applied for it," he said, responding to a reporter's question during a state budget briefing. "It was just one of those things that I never really did."
