Beater needed!

Anybody know of any beaters for sale? Car, that is... something in the $500 range. Doesn't have to be pretty, just reliable, and something with a 4-cyl so I get decent fuel mileage. This truck is killing me on gas, now that I can't work from home anymore

Thanks

actually, in all seriousness, i have seen some cars on ebay before that looked like pretty good deals. however, i would recommend only bidding on one in this area that the seller will allow you to come take a look at. here's a list of cars in the chicagoland area, by lowest prices first.

do you get the Advertiser? They have cheap cars. Hell, I think a guy down the street is selling a beater, but it's a full size van (shitty gas mileage)

I'll check the advertiser, I think it gets thrown at my house tonight.

Damn, I forgot about those. Any of those get good gas mileage? I thought most of those were boats

Uhhhh... maybe I should clarify a little before I get tossed offers on '78 Buicks...

Something like a Cavalier, or a Civic/CRX, etc. Something where I'll actually see 30mpg...

DanO - Davey still want to ditch the CRX?

I pulled the following ad from the want-ads at my work:

Blue Book Value: $1625
Asking: $1000 or best offer

Please e-mail me @ [email protected]

Hope that helps.

I traded in my '91 Toyota Tercel to Tinley Park Toyota about 1 month ago. I'm guessing they already unloded it to a wholesaler. But the drivetrain is solid, but it could use some brake and suspension work in the next year or 2. Newer tires and has a trailer hitch.

You could probably call them and ask where it went. I can get you a full serice history on the car.

BTW - rings seem to go bad pertty soon on mose Hondas. I've seen countless preludes, accords, and civics that burn a lot of oil.
