LOVE this car!!!!!!!

I saw one on the way home yesterday. I saw pictures and ads for it but nothing compared to seeing it in person. Ultra cool and price isn't to to bad either.

G35 coupe. The one I saw had a cool spoiler too.

I think it looks pretty sweet... a LOT better than the G35 sedan (which I have serious styling issues with)... you can tell they took styling cues from the new 350Z (beautiful in my opinion)... gosh if I get my raise I just might have to buy a new car hahahahahah

ewwwwww or maybe not

They're the same car. Like the I30 and the Maxima. The chassis is the same, I can't remember what all of the minor differences were though. It had to be enough to justify 5G more.

I hate when car companies do this. It's an American thing. Americans will pay more if the brand is made fancy enough, even if it's the same product. There is no Infiniti, Lexus, or Acura in Japan. The cars are just stamped with the normal Nissan, Toyota, and Honda.

That is a sweet looking car. They also have a sedan version of the q35 as well, but not nearly as sharp as the coupe.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

Here you go crazy. This one is pretty cool(even though it isnt red) and is going for a really good price compared to any others on ebay. I think this one should probably be $33,000 or so. And it is only about 4-5 hours away.

Sweet......but I said I like it....I didn't say I could afford it.

I should be looking for a new car soon but not sure what I'm going to have to spend for a while yet.

True enough. I had a feeling it was on the Z platform but didn't want to make a stupid assumption. I've been out of the loop on car stuff recently (need to renew C&D MT and R&T... plus have been too engrossed in m/cs) to know that. I do agree that it's bullshit that in american, car companies can market the EXACT same car with a few bells and whistles as an entirely different model. Doesn't make sense to me at all. I think the worst example of this is the lexus ES300... they didn't even try to distinguish it from the camry... and it just looks plain ugly. But hey... I guess that's how the money's made these days.

One nice model we saw was the Lexus IS300... based off of the Toyota Altezza (in europe and japan)... it was nice to see a fresh model from a 'luxury' car company and I like what they did with the car.

I just want an R34 Skyline GTR VSpecII... grey market of course

Whoa nelly, they're not the same car. The chassis are completely different, is my understanding. The G35 is based off of the Nissan Skylin GT-R. Basically the same chassis and engine, a smoother body line, and minus a turbo. The 350Z though is an all new chassis. The cars appeal to different markets too. The Z is for someone looking for a track car with street appeal, less ammenities. Whereas the G is for someone looking in the luxury sport coupe market which is currently dominated by BMW, but wants Japanese reliability. And even if the platforms were shared, that isn't justification for labeling the cars identitcal. Engine tweaking will always justify more money. The Ford F-150 and the Lincoln Navigator share a platform, but they are different animals.

That's Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator and those two are painfully identical. basically a couple of different body panels and some quality differences on interiors.

The Expedition is based off the F-150, therefore it carries over into the Navigator as well. The newest versions are finally starting to differ more, though it doesn't matter as Ford makes something like $20,000 profit off of each Navigator sold.

Unfortunately volkl... I heard this rumor too and I think it's true. They're fucking BASTARDIZING the skyline family with their next-generation R35 or V35 platform... the R34 skyline was (and still is) the single most desirable car on the planet... and to say that this is the latest incarnation is still blasphemy in my mind... even though it is true...

I'm going to serously go cry now because the only decent car on the planet that's left is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII... which THANK GOD will be making an appearance in the americas with its full 276 horses

I don't think it's a Bastardization, but more a refinement. It's like taking a purebred race horse and showing him for his beauty, not his strength. I know for a FACT that it is from the Skyline platform, just not sure about the Z. As for your love of the Evo VII, what about the soon to be coming Subaru WRX Sti? It'll give the Lancer a run for its money. As for lack of decent cars, I recently took a ride in my buddy's 2003 BMW M3, I'd have to say that is a semi decent car Now where's that drooling smiley

Well, now hold on a sec, don't all get your panties in a bunch

As I understand it, yes, the new G35 is based on the Skyline chassis.

HOWEVER - and this is straight from Nick Wong and Brian (?, can't remember his name, but he's one of the owners of MotoRex, I met him at a track rental a few months ago) - the GT-R will be it's own brand entirely. It's own chassis, motor, everything. Similar to the old E32 M3's, it will only LOOK like the regular Skyline.

And now, for this week's quiz material - can you tell me what kind of car I was sitting in when I took this pic?

Ooo, that looks like an old R32 Skyline, worked over by Nismo, and w/ a Valentine radar dectector.

Ding ding ding Well, close enough. It's Nick Wong's R32 GT-R. Not necessarily "worked over by Nismo" - it just has a Nismo wheel. And the car isn't stock either I think his best pass of the day was an 11.07 @ 131 - on 19" Pirelli P-Zeros. This car is NUTS.

Here's a few more pics:

The coolest thing about these cars???? The availability of the HKS ETSC, or Electronic Torque Split Controller. RWD, AWD, or any variant in between, all at the turn of a little dial on the dash

I tried to get a ride in it - but the track wouldn't allow passengers. Apparently our club didn't pay for the extra insurance or something He offered to take me for a session at Gingerman the next day (Nick was heading up to Gingerman the following day for a road-course rental.) Unfortunately, I couldn't make it. Oh well.

Nick has built this car for the One Lap. I guess he (and it) have done very well over the past few years. Rumor has it Nick also has a VERY tuff, full-Mugen S2000 in his garage at home. And to top it off, he's a REALLY nice guy, very smart, easy to get along with - and I'd guess he's under 30!
