lost airports

this is almost like my thread of lost drag strips, and how sad it is to see how those are gone.

I found this on the fiero site

http://www.airfields-freeman.com/index.htm

i cant believe how many airports were around locally. And they did actually removed all of Glenviews naval base too.

Im glad theres some historical societies to preserve buildings.

also, if you click the link for illinois and do regions... Loyola hospital in maywood had an airport there too.

Along the theme of looking for lost stuff, I think it would be interesting to try and locate lost ballparks. I once had this book on the topic. In keeping with the theme, I lost the book. But, it was interesting to discover that one of my riding buddies' back yard used to be Griffith Stadium in Washington DC (now it's Howard University Hopital).
