Transfer utilities when moving into house?

Gas, electric, etc... how does it work?

Do they come out and read the meter on closing and bill everything up to closing to the seller, and everything after closing to the buyer?

Just call the utility and tell them the date you are out of there and what addy you are moving to next. They will take of the rest.

+1, and it's not a bad idea to let the new occupant know that you've done that (if you know who that is). They will need to call in on their own to get a new account opened.
