Yeah...gotta buy it. You can download it from microsoft, but it's not free. I have MS professional 2003, but I don't know where the ID for it went so it's worthless. It sucks, because I need to use MS access for one of my other computers and I don't want to buy it twice.

There are programs you can download that will display the key, but it doesn't work on all the different versions. So of course it didn't work on mine.

I was looking to buy MS Office, but opted for this program. It's pretty good. Opens, prints, uses MS Office files pretty good (no access though).

http://www.openoffice.org/

If you do some hardcore Excel spreadsheet number crunching it might not do that. I use it for simple spreadsheets and documents. The wordpad/MS Works program supplied with my computer doesn't like tabs, indents, etc used on resumes.

If you opt to buy MS Office, try the OEM route. Be careful though. I found OEM Avenue.com from a goggle search (sponsor link on google). Turns out though they are being chased by BBB for using their logo without permission, mail to the address mentioned was undeliverable, and Mapquest/Yahoo couldn't find the street listed. Luckily the CC information didn't get processed, but the site looked very professional, no typical scam typos.

Dont worry about it fella's its not that serious, my old computer went down from Dell, they sent me another one (refurbished) which they did not tell me, and it does not have MS Word and I often use that, so Im on the hunt for it now without having to shell out $80-90 bucks.

If you want to be legal, pick up a copy of Works Suite on eBay for $35 or so... it comes with MS Word, plus some other cool stuff like Maps & Streets. It is the cheapest way to legitimately acquire Word.

If you are a student you can buy it for about $20. You have to fill out a form and mail it in and they send you the CD. You can get all of office, even access and ms project this way. I think it's like $15 for office, $5 for access and another $5 for project.

and you can buy 1 copy of each per year. i gave mine to my parents b/c I said sometimes I go home and need to do schoolwork there.....so that makes it a legit giveaway.

Thank you! I'm glad to see that someone got off of their high horse and recommended the bittorent route.

Only reason I don't tell people about it cause its more of a hassle to explain how to use it, and open ports on their router than to just have them say I need dos 3.1 and I can go grab it.
