US Cellular

Anybody have them in the Plainfield / Romeoville area? wondering about drop calls and service out here. I need to get a new phone this week and it's one of my contenders.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I know, I've already asked you this.

seriously though, US Cell has some of the best plans right now and I want to know if they are worth it. I don't mind paying more for good service, but consumer reports ranks US cell very highly and it doesn't make sense to pay more when you get less.

That's good to hear they have brought up their service levels.

They used to have the nickname: Useless Cellular.

I switched to them from Cingular...works in all the areas that Cingular used to fail me. Wish I could complain, but as long as their service stays like this I won't be switching any time soon. No roaming, free incoming, free in network calls and all for $40.

My boyfriend works in their tech support and they have awesome coverage and really good plans. I have used them for about 4 years now and have never had a problem. I would highly recomend them. They are putting up new towers everyday somewhere so their network is only growing.

I"ve had US Cellular for three years now, live in Willowbrook and travel all over for the burbs for work...they've got THE best coverage IMO, they used to be Primeco...with that little alien dude, oldest network in Chicago...and also the best.

According to Consumer Reports, they ARE the best in and around Chicago.
I have Verizon and there seems to be a bad spot or two around rt59 & 119th. Otherwise, I really cannot complain. Be careful if you have a smart phone but have decided against a web access package. I let my friend check his email and browse a little bit a couple weeks ago; 8MB of data downloaded cost me $129.00. They charge something like 45.00 a month for unlimited access, but I really only wanted the PDA functionality. Apparently you cannot request that your web access be blocked. $129.00 for 8MB; what a bunch of horse shit
